Get in here if you have a disease that messes with your digestive system. Secretly the worst of diseases.

I have CVS
>>
>>37167669
Ulcerative Colitis

It sucks, but apparently mine is not so bad. I am taking cortisone now, which helps a lot. Hope I can reduce the dosage in 2 months
>>
>>37167669
I get lots of air pressure in my stomach and when i poop its mostly just air. diagnose me.
>>
>>37168042
Maybe your gut flora is disturbed.
No one can diagnose you however, except for a doctor with physical examination.
>>
>>37167669
I had giardiasis once. Boy was that not fun
>>
>>37167669
Sometimes my panic attacks give me diarrhea. Does that count?
>>
I fart a lot. no, really, like an absurd amount
I am like a human balloon. don't know what causes this, my poops are okay.
>>
>>37167669
There may be so called "occult blood" (blood which you cannot see) in your shits.
There are methods to detect it.
Go check a doc. Unless you live in us and a. Then go die, probably.
>>
>>37167669
I have a really sensitive digestive system and I will get the shits if I vary my diet even slightly
>>
sometimes it feels like my tummy is angery and it makes loud noises
doesn't really seem to be much other than embarrassing
>>
>>37167669
I poop 2-3 times a day. I can't hold it in, ever. I always have to run to the toilet. I can't go a day without pooping. If I take anti diarrhea pills, I just poop 2-3 hours later, it makes no difference.
>>
>>37167669
I only can do type 1 stools. It's annoying but laxatives make me feel terrible
>>
>>37168364
Normal poop or diarrhea? Same here, really can't hold it. Often also diarrhea and most days stomache pain.
I'm so afraid to have the urge to poop when I'm not at home. This gives me panic attacks on a daily basis. And the panic attacks result in diarrhea. Fml

Does hereditary constipation from both parents count?
>>
I have been having issues for a while now, often after i take a shit i feel pain in the belly and not long after i need to shit again. There is also pain close to the rectum sometimes and feeling like i can't push out all of the shit. My stool type and color is all over the place i have had some ribbon stools too.Nausea and heartburn sometimes as well. Doctors in my backwards shithole country are useless mostly and wouldn't care to do anything if i don't get a colonoscopy which scares me because one wrong push from a bad doc and it rips your intestines and you die really quickly, not to mention the danger of sedation.
>>
Everyone who has long lasting problems should definitely go and see a doctor. I kept on going 1 year with pain, farting and shitting without me being able to control it before I went to a doc, got diagnosed and could start taking meds. Now it's way better.
>>

>Ulcerative Colitis
Mines in the top 10% worst cases, none of the mild therapies did anything, so I've been taking different forms of cortisone for over 2 years to stop myself from starving to death. At the worst point I lost 2 pounds a day for almost q week before I was hospitalized. I rarely leave the house now.

Fuck, sorry to hear. Did your doc suggest immunosuppression?

You ever thought about removing your colon? This is the only way of "healing" ulcerative colitis.
The logic is, you can't have UC if you don't have a colon.
30+ shits a day, watery as fuck and a boatload of other crap ruining your day as a tradeoff for being healed sounds fucking awful.

I'm glad cortisone (budesonide 9mg/day) and mesalazin (3 grams (yes grams)) do the trick, at least for me. Also, I need to supplement iron and vitamin D, because of the bleeding and increased immune reaction.
>>
>>37167669

I don't have a gi disease, but I'd love a qt gf with severe ibs.

I would lovingly change her diapers, wash her in the shower, and enjoy her farts.
>>
>>37169617
Have fun doing it every 15 minutes. Go fuck yourself and your degenerate fetish. Fucking go swallow a log and choke on it until you suffocate. Please remove yourself from the human gene pool

My mother, uncle, aunt, and cousin all have celiac disease. My mother keeps suggesting my stomach problems are related to that.

God I hope she's wrong because no one takes their stuff seriously thanks to the gluten fad.
>>
>>37169614
>You ever thought about removing your colon?
They only to that of the inflammation spreads throughout the body and reaches you brain or heart, or your colon gets toxic.

I'm usually taking the max dosage of budesonide as well, but it's not enough to let me live a normal life. I stopped taking mesalazin after throwing it up the last time.

I'm trying to identify foods that trigger my flares and remove them from my diet, before I take immunosuppressants.
>>
>>37168451
I have the same panic attacks! Sometimes it's a normal poop, sometimes something between, sometimes diarrhea. I have diarrhea often though, like ... the explosive kind. It sucks.
We can be like... poopmates or something.
>>
>>37168727
Doctor here, you are such a pussy. Colonoscopies are overall very safe. You've got less than a one percent chance of perforation and even if you got one you don't even always need an operation to fix it. Odds of a young man without significant comorbidities dying of a colonoscopy is vanishingly small.

Nut up you little bitch.
>>
>>37167669

So do you guys get the shits a lot then?
I can see that as a blessing.

Go around to public bogs after a big meal and fucking devastate them.
>>
>>37170097
Idk man when i wash myself my ass feels tight as hell i am afraid they will rip me apart, bear in mind i don't live in the first world. Based on what i described do you think i might have something serious? I'm so worried.
>>
>>37169003
I understand that feel Anon and sympathize. I myself suffer from malabsorption and it's hell to eat anything or put on weight.

Low FODMAP diet should help most people here though. Avoid onions, garlic, dairy, bread etc.
>>
Acid reflux is a bitch. Often it strikes (even on an empty stomach), and even when I take the usual acid suppressants I still burp a lot.
>>
>>37170145
Lemme put it this way, you're sedated and the scope we use is a lot thinner than the thickest shit you've pushed out, you'll be fine.

You have a lot of vague symptoms, off the top of my head I can't think of a single unifying diagnosis and odds are it's nothing serious, but a scope rules out most sinister or concerning caused, so if it's been suggested by your doctor it's worth doing.
>>
>>37170254
I guess i should bite the bullet and do it since sometimes the symptoms are pretty strong.
>>
are water retention and acid reflex bad?

I just have IBS, if I try holding it in then I get terrible and painful constipation. If I ever eat fast food I digest it within 20-35 minutes. It's nothing serious, but it's unpleasant because of how difficult it is to gain weight. All the food goes straight through me, and I end up having to use the rest room right after having a meal.
>>
>>37170065
>Poopmates
Laughed, thanks a lot Anon. Days are hard and I needed this right now.
Tried a new thing, pic related. Got them last week and had most of the time hard poop without stomache pain. Feels good, really. I eat two spoons of them right before bedtime and drink one big glas of water. I hope it'll help to get rid of the panic attacks.
>>
Starting in my early 20's I began having vague and non-specific GI irritability and discomfort, small amounts of intermittent rectal bleeding, and fatigue and mood problems.

Many years later, I diagnosed myself with a non-IgE-mediated food allergy, figured it out during my fourth year of medical school (physician, heal thyself). Restricted my diet and the GI problems and rectal bleeding have dramatically improved, and I managed to gain some lean body mass, too. Energy and mood problems have improved as well, although not as dramatically.

I count myself as being very lucky to have finally figured myself out, luckier still that it was something relatively treatable with diet.
>>
I have a bad case of IBS-D.

My doctor rated it as severe. I got a colonscopy done, no IBD. However, I only have diarrhea. I go about 4-5 times a day. Going so much caused an anal fissure along with have 3 internal hemorrhoids, 1 of which prolapsed and leaks out into my underwear. Every BM I have causes me such horrible pain I get into a fetal position. It burns mostly.

I take half an imodium to calm things down, but it makes it worse. I get severe constipation pain and it kills me practically.
>>
>>37170455

i'd smooch you for comfort (if not fat)
>>
>>37167669

I went to an Indian GI doctor and I told him my symptoms. Depending on what I eat it's harder for me to shit. I will wipe bright red blood a lot, but sometimes I'll wipe brownish/greenish feces. Also when I eat let's say pasta my stomach feels like someone is pushing down on it.

He dismissed it seemed everything I said, and told me it sounds like hemroids, but a very small chance it could be cancer. Told me I should get a colonscopy. Im going to get a 2nd opinion.
>>
>>37171826
>Cancer

Doesn't sound like it. More than likely it's a hemorrhoid along with IBS-C.

Medfag here (from 37171519, not the other guy further up).

For those here with anal fissures and rectal inflammation, a bidet can make it easier and less painful to clean yourself. While Europeans and Japanese homes sometimes have installed bidet units, most Americans aren't so familiar with them -- but you can get portable squeeze-bottle bidets that are an economical alternative.

For those who experience stinging and irritation from plain water, you can use lukewarm isotonic or slightly hypotonic saline instead. Note that salt-containing solutions should only be used with valve-less squeeze-bottle bidets, due to clogging and corrosion issues.
>>
>>37171904

Do I need to get a colonscopy to determine I have IBS? Im not worried about death, just the whole camera up my ass while unconscious bothers me.
>>
>>37171826
>Told me I should get a colonscopy. Im going to get a 2nd opinion.
Get the colonoscopy done before you go. You will end up having to do it either way. This way you'll have the colonoscopy results with you.
>>
>>37171933
>Do I need to get a colonscopy to determine I have IBS?

The colonscopy would be more to do a biopsy and rule-out IBD and other etiologies. IBS is more of a diagnosis of exclusion that goes by history and symptoms.
>>
>>37167669

I went on a couple dates with an asian girl who had colitis, she was a virgin and a little hefty. I couldn't fit it in her so I moved on.

>>
>>37172259
>I would probably be scared of dying from the drug itself.

Risk vs benefit, anon. Look at the clinical trial data and go by hard numbers, not by your emotions.

Remember that you are already at elevated risk of cancer just from the IBD itself, and at elevated risk of death (from bowel perforations, bowel obstructions, psychiatric issues leading to suicide, etc).

>>37167669
I went in to doctors for a while about my constant nausea and stabbing stomach pain. They just sent me from specialist to specialist and gave me PPI prescriptions and those chemo anti nausea pills to take every day and I never got a solid answer. Eventually, I stopped going because it was so much frustration and money and I felt like it wasn't gong anywhere. At one point they did an ultrasound and found a spot they thought might be the beginnings of an ulcer or something, but they were like "oh probably just a symptom of your general anxiety"
Fuck the us
>>
>>37173003
Hey man I was literally on the same boat.

Got the Omeprazole and some other shit.
Went to a different doc.
Got told it was just anxiety.
Went to a different doc.
Got an endoscopy only to be told it was nothing and just continue taking my pills.
Went to a different doc.
Got told it was GERD.
Stopped going to fucking doctors.

Meanwhile I was losing a lot of weight and I was already a hungy skeleton.

I switched to a totally bland diet, and basically cut out EVERYTHING acidic or flavorful because that would always make shit way worse.

It mostly went away after a while. I still can't eat anything acidic without gagging though.
Stay strong my dude.
>>
I had a very irritable bowel (not the actual disease)
I stopped drinking carbonated beverages, started taking probiotics, keto diet and it alleviated the issues quite a bit
>>
>>37167669
>CVS

Oh my god I thought the doctors were memeing me. This was like my whole childhood from age 5-10 ish. I'd get randomly sick for a week, be bed ridden, puke EVERYTHING up and need to drink gatorade constantly. It got better over time and eventually stopped entirely when I hit puberty.

Idk if it was actually CVS or not. The doctors seemed pretty stumped. Some said it was psychological but there's no way on earth that could be possible.

It happened right after we got a pool. The first time was the worst, I couldn't even hold water down.
>>
>>37173451
>It happened right after we got a pool.

If I had to take a guess, you caught some water-borne gastroenteritis, and it triggered off the CVS. How it would do that is a good question, maybe it caused some damage to your enteric nervous system, maybe it set some autoimmune attack off.
>>
>>37173901
>How it would do that is a good question, maybe it caused some damage to your enteric nervous system, maybe it set some autoimmune attack off.

Would have been cool if they bothered to figure that out at the time.
>>
I have UC in my rectum. It's fucking awful. I've never had so much pain my life.

I got immunosuppressants and antiinflammatories but they got me constipated. Now I'm at a loss.

How do other anons cope with it.
>>
>>37173451
It's not very well known but it's absolutely awful. Do you or have you ever had migraines? Have any of your relatives had regular migraines? A lot of people who have it as kids go from vommiting to having migraines instead I think. I didn't get that though. Instead a migraine is usually my trigger which leads to more than a week of vommiting.

Catching something can trigger it too.
>>
i do

i like it because it keeps me from being obese as long as i don't drink too much beer
>>
My gi issues have ruined my life no exxageration. Can anyone guess what my problem is if I give my symptoms?:

Fecal body odor a lot, as soon as I get in a social situation and get nervous I start to smell like ive farted even though it doesn't feel like I have. Also, my anus feels loose and uncomfortable when I sit down a lot. I havent been to the doctor due to embarrassment and also have no faith in the competence of the health service here. I almost completely can cure it by eating a gluten free and dairy free diet, eating loads of magnesium and psyllium every day but its such a damn hassle.
>>
>>37174701
You just have to stick to that diet then.
>>
>>37168029
You will look like Ass even months after you stop taking that stuff.
At least i still do three months later.
>>
Does anybody get disability for IBD here?

I can barely work anymore due to it. I'm stuck in the bathroom for about 5 hours a day and my boss is losing his patience.

How much could I get (if I even qualify)?
>>
>>37170154
low fodmap is so ridiculously restrictive it's hard to eat a good diet on it. i didn't notice any improvement when i tried it but it's hard to be sure if that's because my diet got shittier as a result of only being able to eat a few foods. sometimes i would just have corn tortilla chips for dinner because i couldn't be assed to figure something out
>>
>>37175935
Yeah that's not going to work if you only feed yourself carbs.

Personally, I make sure to have soup as entry in every meal, there is literally nothing better than some warm veggie soup on this earth. Then I usually have fish or meat with rice or potatoes. Cut out all snacks, stuff containing artificial sweeteners, soy etc. No soda, only water or the occasional natural lemon juice.

Following this diet has really improved my stomach woes and I feel well although I still get a lot of gas from time to time.
>>
>>37175870
i tried for IBS (and social anxiety and gout and back pain) and got denied. your mileage may vary
>>37176177
how the fuck do you find soup that doesn't use any onion or garlic or anything on the low fodmap forbidden list? this shit is in everything as flavoring. i feel you on no soda though that's a change i've kept just because soda is really bad for you in general regardless of your bowel situation
>>
>>37176254
IBS is more manageable than IBD and less life threatening.

Getting my first surgery next month.
>>
>>37176254
Easy, I make my own soup. It's not strictly low fodmap of course but it's delicious. It's so easy to make and it can last you two days or so. Is da bes.

>cut carrots in small cubes
>cut zucchini/courgette in roundels
>cut turnip in cubes
>pour everything in pan and cover with water
>add salt
>cook for 5 minutes
>cut potatoes in cubes and add them to the mix
>let it sit until potatoes are cooked
>let it rest for a bit them use the blender on that bad boy
>get delicious soup

The degree of vegetables to add depends on your taste but you can add anything, I usually add more carrot and potato than anything else to get it creamy.
>>

Actually that is the exact same thing that would happen to me. I didn't even realize it until now, I thought it was just part of the illness itself.
>>
>>37177008
Is celiac as bad as UC or Crohn's? I imagine the effects are very similar.
>>

I have stress-induced IBS. I have to take two Imodiums every single morning before going to work or else I have to go to bathroom every hour or so to shit yellow diarrhea and release a lot of gas. Huge sweat stain in my underpants no matter if I am working standing up or sitting down. I think it comes from the effort of holding all the gas and diarrhea in. Doesn't smell.

All my symptoms completely go away when I get back home from work. Nothing during weekends either. 100% certain it has nothing to do with diet.

Yes. Went to both a GP and a specialist. Got a bloodwork and colonoscopy with sampling done and they didn't find anything.

Thank god for /r9k/, the only place I can find soulmates. I've had a hemorrhoid for two years. Someone asked me if I farted once and it made me anxious and paranoid. It became a self fulfilling prophecy, so while trying to hold in farts, it made the symptoms a reality. Now I have this stress induced IBS, including diarrhea and constipation. I've always had a sweaty ass though.

The flatulance should leave the body somehow though. Nitrogen is not absorbed by the blood stream, so it's bound to leave the body at some point.

Well, if you have a steady postnasal drip even during good weather, that suggests an allergic cause usually. And a tendency towards respiratory allergies could mean you have food allergies too.

I agree with this. At the very least get a referral to a GI doc, and tell them. They went into a career knowing it was 80% about looking up assholes. Every time I see mine, he wants me for a colonoscopy. I usually decline because I'm a prude. You don't need to be embarrassed around these people.

There should be a GI disease group for people on here, the ones on memebook are super autistic.

Cyclic vomit syndrome reporting.

GI pain has advantages and disadvantages; for example, physical labor doesn't make it any worse, unlike say, back pain.

On the other hand, it's difficult to treat, and it's omnipresent unless you take opioids. Also, I'm somewhat fearful of puking in public, which always gets judgemental looks like I'm a drunk.

But yeah, it fucking sucks.

Are you me? Used to have hemorrhoids and fissure, and now I'm farting all day long probably because my colon is also fucked from bad nutrition, and too paranoid to hold them in. Taught myself to let out silent ninja farts during work

What pills and vitamins are you guys taking?
I'm taking Lialda for my UC and then a probiotic, vitamin C, vitamin b12, calcium, and sometimes fiber capsules.

mesalamine products make my UC worse, lialda, apriso, canasa, and some enema forget the brand, all bad

flared up again a couple weeks ago, right now taking prednisone, a multi-vitamin, and D3+calcium supplement

also eating a lot of bananas, peanut butter, yogurt, and doing a lot of cardio

doc wants me to try more medications but I feel like my guts are slowly improving on their own so I don't want to try something new and have it make me worse off

also would recommend this multi-vitamin, feel like it helped some when I switched to this, plus the full serving is spread across 4 pills so if your diet is pretty good to begin with then you don't need to take a full serving worth every day
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00323NW5C/

and it has a small amount of probiotics and a lot of B12

>Maybe. I actually just kind of stopped liking grains.

Funny that. At some point in my life I kind of stopped liking eggs. Years later I discovered I had an egg allergy, just never realized it consciously.
