Online dating is fucking worthless. Let me spell it out for you; humans need proximity. You can *talk* to each other online, but the end goal will always be to close that proximity and secure your physicality with another person. If you don't have this planned out and set to happen, you're deluding yourself into thinking you can just fall in love over the internet, which is objectively fucking impossible. You're not doing anything other than priming yourself and your partner for meeting up. That's the end. That's the purpose of talking to someone else. You're familiarizing yourself with a person you THINK you might be compatible with. But to stay purely online and idealize your relationship without affirming it IN PERSON is a fool's errand. It's fantasy. You might as well be roleplaying because that's basically what it all adds up to.

This is true. I was recently in a LDR and the distance factor was a killer. The relationship just hit a certain point of stagnation because we were at a stage where the only way to advance is by actually being together. I feel like he and I knew each other near inside out but being unable to physically be with one another just wasn't working.

Honestly I loved the person he is. I wish I'd done more to be with him. Not doing more was the worst decision of my entire life.

That's too bad. One of the worst things is that some people don't have any intention, or means, of meeting up. Maybe you were in different countries. Maybe one of you lived with parents, or couldn't get away from work long enough. Lots of factors that could have complicated things. In some cases it might be better to give up, and mutually agree to move on. Still though, that's pretty rough.
