I'm such a fucking moron. Three weeks ago I was borderline broke and about to be evicted. My weed dealer neighbor offered to loan me money (no strings attached) and I declined because I didn't want to be a mooch. About an hour into talking he raised the possibility of meeting with his 'distributor' to set up some sort of arrangement. He wanted me to sling dope for his boss. I said fuck that shit, don't wanna go to jail or die. He gave me his number and told me to think about it - tell him (neighbor) sent me. I told him I would think about it and went inside.
Three hours later I cracked and picked up the phone. I told this random stranger I was about to be homeless and that his weed dealer said there might be a way for me to make some easy cash. Sure enough he mentioned the fact that they were one guy short and looking for a replacement. We talked about my relationship with the weed dealer, how long we'd known each other, if I was trustworthy, etc etc. I assured him I was the real deal. He must have sensed I was desperately in need of cash because he kept laughing to himself throughout the conversation. I guess he was skeptical of who I was because he never outright admitted his occupation. Anyway, he set up a cold meeting with one of his guys, said to meet him at a precise date and undisclosed location.
