Even if you truly are depressed then "talking about it" with those people does not help. They might have the intention to try to make you feel better, but it's only a short-term impulse and not a long term commitment. To help with depression you need something more long term and stable. A single conversation does not work. Talking about it like this is more likely to cause a rift between you and them than help you.

Now let's say you get the standard conversation where they might or might not convince you to go see a psychiatrist or psychologist. This still doesn't often help. You spend a lot of time, money, and effort to do what they say and most of the time it still will not help you. A psychiatrist often spends YEARS trying different drugs with you to find one that helps.
