A thread where robots can share things they've made and get feedback.

I'll start things off by posting this guy. He posted some of his music in a thread maybe a week ago, and I was impressed by it.

well done, but I can't tell if you're trying to make any portion of her arms visible or not

I make music but I think it's pretty shit so I probably won't share it with anyone outside of my friend group

Actually pretty good. Better than 90% of what I see on /ic/

although i think i've already posted this in one of these threads before. oh well.

So for how long have you been drawing?
And how hard did you had to try to get a decent drawing for the frist time?

I'm trying to draw too but i can only draw shitty unrealistic eyes and i don't want to be that guy that only draws "animu" stuff i also want to draw realistically.

I'm digging your style though, do you skip out on construction and focus on contour? I can't see any construction on the paper.

I'm rusty with my art but I find it to be quite stiff sometimes although I do good gestures and alright construction

i've been drawing for most of my life but i've only really gotten serious about improving these past few years. a decent drawing is relative to your standards and knowledge though so idk if i can answer that.
i'm in the same position as you with the anime stuff, though. my style seems to be a blend of anime and realism most of the time i guess.
>>36892921
thank you! i tend to draw my initial sketch and construction lightly with pencil and then erase them when i ink.
>>
>>36893104
Do you recommend anything to start?
Your drawings look so good but i have a vibe that you are copying the drawings, maybe because they are so clean.

i honestly just started out drawing shitty anime stuff at first, but for improving with anatomy and stuff like that, i've found youtube to be a good resource for tutorials and lessons actually.
most of the time though, my sketches are very sloppy so i prefer to clean them up. i guess i can see where you're coming from though.
>>
What are the essential things to get good at something ?
Drawing/Painting has Anatomy
Music has Music Theory
what about other creative stuff ?
>>
>>36893686
Give examples about what you think it's creative.
Also Music Theory is a meme.

fields where you create stuff

>Also Music Theory is a meme.
shove it up your ass, that's like saying anatomy is a meme and you shouldn't learn it because one guy got lucky and became famous without learning it
>>
>>36893771
Electricity is creative, you can create lights connections switches etc and maybe if you are good enough and you have the intelligence to do it a robot.

Music theory is a meme, you can just learn a song by watching someone play it,i got really far in 2 years without giving that shit too much attention,i dropped because i didn't had enough time to continue.
>>
>>36893844
>you can just learn a song by watching someone play it,
How do you do it without watching someone ? How do you transpose from one instrument to another ? How do you do arrangements ? How do you compose ? How do you improvise ? How do you even know what you're playing ?

inb4 >b-but I just play what sounds good to muh ear
>>
I wanna see more stuff.

I try to write, this is what I think is one of my best fiction/prose pieces - https://pastebin.com/g5KtgX8M

I don't know much about writing. A little too aggressively edgy for my taste, and cliched in parts, but overall reads quite fluidly. Good rhythm or pacing, maybe?

>>36896191
I was told it was quite helpful.
Whom to trust?

I'm currently working on scripting a pilot for mockumentary series about pornography studios.
Kind of similar in structure to Reno 911.
I'm not going to be doing anything with it, it's mainly for fun and practice.

>>36896191
It's a tool, a decent one if you're just beginning, eventually you should be able to figure out yourself what kind of practice you need.
>>
>>36896206
Mind telling me what you found cliched? I wrote that a couple of years ago and I thought I was being anti-stereotypical in everything, finding out where I wasn't would be helpful.

Ok, this is in 2 parts.

Perhaps I spoke a little too soon, just read through it again a little more carefully. Still reads very well, and I appreciate the imaginative turns of phrase and bold imagery more now. I agree it did turn out to be quite fresh.
There were perhaps 3 places where I thought things could have been phrased more interestingly.

>The water here reeks of shit and chemicals, looks oily, seems about ready to burst into flames.

Water being polluted, oily and dirty in large, busy urban centres is nothing new, and people mention it all the time IRL in not too dissimilar terms to the ones you use here. The wording here seems a little too mundane and banal compared to the tone of the rest of the piece.
I would expect a more metaphorical or allusive description, and perhaps in some other context in passing, rather than dedicating a separate sentence to it.

>This one is a hardcore night so expect concrete jungle rhythms and screams of pleasure.

"Hardcore night" has an adolescent, memetic feel to it. "Concrete jungle rhythms": not sure "jungle rhythms" as a descriptor fits the distinctly urban and slightly gothic(?) mood of the piece. It's also a common descriptor for music of a certain type, something you'd read in any music review.
"Screams of pleasure" is quite a cliched expression I think and I'm not sure it adequately describes something you'd feel at a mosh/concert venue. Maybe "screams of exhilaration"?
I just felt this sentence in particular was kind of wonky and was composed of ill-fitting and superfluous elements.
>>
>>36897032
>>36896390

>wicked bad young drunks thinking they're hot shit, the hottest shit, thinking they met their match

"thinking they're hot shit" is almost cringe-inductively stale to me, and doubling it up with "the hottest shit" doesn't really do much to even this out, even if it's supposed to be direct-indirect speech and somewhat ironic.
"Met their match": doesn't this mean to come up against something that defeats you? Perhaps I'm missing the meaning here.

Everything else I really liked; I wish I could write with the freshness and creative audacity I perceived here, but I don't know much about writing and don't have much of a passion for it.
I only sometimes make an effort to spice up a post or comment with vivid descriptive imagery or lexical quirks when I feel my thinking is falling into a stale pattern.
>>
Posted this in a vocaroo thread the other day and a few people seemed to enjoy it, just a song I've been working on.

https://clyp.it/52zmxa2c

I haven't been able to muster up the motivation to properly record anything in like a year, so just getting to this point feels like a step in the right direction. Hopefully I'll finish it up.
