I've always felt more sympathetic with villains. In most cases, the villains often have the entire world after them, where the heroes have friends, family, and all sorts of people to help them. There are of course exceptions, but generally villains tended to be more relatable for me, even as a little kid. I always felt bad when the villain lost after all their hard work.
