it's a show for children. not like adventure time or steven universe or whatever where it's nominally "for children" but really for 20 year olds; ML is legitimately a kid's show.

it's also entirely 3dcg. it's a magical girl superhero thing and you can clearly see both of those influences in every episode (almost all of which are monster of the week things). there are long transformation scenes with a lot of reused footage.

the show is incredibly french and this is what makes it compelling for me. the eiffel tower is always in danger. the french dub (the best way to watch it) makes the whole thing oddly charming.

the english dub is supposedly fine but i prefer french with english subs

basically, if you can deal with all of that, sure, it's fun.

but always remember: it's a show for actual children. it's not gonna be deep, it's not gonna do most of the things you expect a "normal" show to do.

also as an addendum: i've made it sound like there is no lore to this show. there is lore. the creator suggests that lore will get fairly complex as the show runs its course.

the marinette/adrien thing is obviously canon also but they have to remain necessarily chaste in the show so it's basically just a bunch of strange flirting

i think people get into it because it's such a pure vanilla ship (even though all relevant anime tropes suggest that adrien should be a bad guy)
