There are sites you can go on that lists the benefits of each card. Some have great points benefits, some just have low rates, low annual fees.

Personally I'd stick with a mastercard or visa, now AMEX or Discover. Figure out what is more important to you and get that one.

If you just got a car loan, you'll start getting card offers. Everyone sells your name to everyone else.

Assuming you're American, a secured Discover would be best if you have ~$1000-2500 liquid to bank away for 7 months. It has very decent cashback and works @ Amazon.

Make no mistake though: Your credit is not good. It is average. An ideal card would be something like Citi Diamond Preferred which has good price drop protection & rewards. You can probably get a Capital One Platinum or something @ 24% APR, but that has no bennies so it's pointless besides min/maxing scores or establishing credit.
