If you're a total newbie, I'd recommend codeacademy_com. Helped me a lot with starting Python. Might be a bit redundant if you already know the basics of programming tho.

If i were you I wouldn't bother learning python as a first language. It is too simple, I would go for c# as it is higher level, similar in appearance to most other languages and has garbage collection, so is not too complicate
