What do you think of metal music? Are you a fan, or were you ever?

It's a stereotype but I do feel like metal is something most robots would probably find appealing, since metal bands tend to hate women or at least not respect them
>>
>>36839470
I just like guitar solos. Why does a genre of music trigger you so much you have to bring misogyny up?
>>
Never liked metal

I'll probably gonna sound like fedora tipping neckbeard but I just like to listen to some piano covers

They make me feel calm and don't distract from my self pitying thoughts
>>
I primarily listen to metal, mostly "underground" Black and Atmospheric Black lately. I try not to limit myself and become a Euronymous worshipping retard so have been branching out into indie, alternative and more acoustic music (not a hipster i swear)
>>
Yes. Metal is pretty much the only thing that makes me happy anymore. I went to a Testament concert last night.
>>
>>36839604
Always found Testament boring , _ ,
>>
I still haven't grown out of it. I keep finding new shit I like. Recently I've been getting into Vektor.

Metal is most of what I listen to. I'm more into I'm not sure how you'd call it traditional or classic metal like Iron Maiden and Dio and power/symphonic like Blind Guardian and Symphony X but I'm willing to give pretty much all styles a chance.

Ehhh, i find them kinda cringy, kinda mainstream (arent trve kvlt) and have been watered down a little, their singer looks like my dad and I'm pretty sure the camo pants they wear are civilian camo...

>>36839470
I listen to most genres of music but metal is probably the one I listen to the most. Personally I'm a fan of Fear Factory, Mnemic, In Flames (except for Battles, holy mother of god does that album suck ass), and if you consider it metal Killing Joke, as well as other bands.

>>
>>36839925
Fair enough, I just like the fact that their entire thing is history considering pretty much no other band I can think of has history metal, an exception being Iced Earth but even then that was just one album. Plus they had a tank on stage once, transformed into a drum kit.

It isn't for normies, that's kindof the point. Even if it is "autistic" and wedgy it still only appeals to a specific demographic. That's why it is often a slow evolution into liking said music
>>
>>36839948

I actually wasn't familiar with them but I'm kind into that song.
>>
>>36839470

Used to be a metal fan. Started with Metallica and megadeath and progressed to In Flames and Soilwork then went to Helloween and Mercyful Fate/King Diamond.

Now I listen to Prog and classical. Just far more interesting musically and lyrically. Bands like Camel, Yes, Van der Graaf Generator, Gentle Giant, Genesis, England.

Prog is probably the most leftist genre out there but I like it because of good music even though I'm very conservative. Just because I'm conservative doesn't mean I have to hate everything leftists do. I operate under the assumption that we all want the same thing, that we want to live in a rich and safe country and just hVe different opinions about getting and maintaining that. I don't wish death or harm on my political opposition.
>>
is it a cultural thing in metal music to use the most difficult-to-read font?

Ye, is good too but not as good.

I like Sabaton but I agree with other Anons when they say their new stuff is watered down a bit. Keep in mind I think they lost a few members.

Their old singer's new band isn't half bad.
>>
>>36839970
Listen to Demanufacture. In Flames was one of the founders of melo death but they've REALLY hit the ground hard with Battles, that shit is inexcusable. And I just liked Mechanical Spin Phenomena, bite me.

Sabaton are pure, stupid trash. The metal equivalent of a hamburger with salad on it to make you feel a bit better about what you're eating... but that's kind of the appeal, in a way. It's not particularly deep, and it's simplistic, but it has a certain unique taste. Their new stuff all follows a particular, kinda bland formula, but it's fun in a bombastic way.

Metal is about not respecting women, because it's made by men, about cosmic horror and indiscriminate violence.

I like all kinds of music, metal is just my favorite. Whethers its older classic stuff like Iron Maiden, meme bands like Dragonforce, silly bands like Alestorm, or br00tal metal like Whitechapel. Though I don't mind other genres either. The only thing I can truely say I don't like is modern country. I even like older country, but I feel like modern country is just a mockery of all things Southern.

I feel like Metal is the anime of the music world. It all sounds the same and it typically enjoyed by fedora tier weebs.
>>
>>36840645
I wouldn't even say their quality "declined", actually it kind of got better from an objective standpoint. The production got better, and their music only continued to grow in popularity. However, like most bands, they lost a special spark that made them seem more "real" in their music.

Though not metal, this is also prevalent in a band called The National. In their first album, on the first song, the lead singer's voice breaks on the first lyric of the whole album. In their latest albums, their music is all incredibly over-produced and popular, but as a result doesn't have the same human element. Listening to Sabaton's early work and hearing the funny, broken English and edginess is really charming and adds to their image, compared to the kind of inoffensive production of their post-Art of War stuff.

>>
>>36840735
I don't think modern Sabaton would do a song like "We Burn", which is from the perspective of the perpetrators of the Srebrenica massacre. It's a little too on the nose and not marketable enough, perhaps even a little "insensitive" for most people. Their older music has a very intense noisiness to it, too; something that you can't replicate when you start producing your music as much as they do now.

Drudkh is comfy as fug

New Wolfheart is good if you like melodeath. Windswept if you like hate forest and drudkh, and the new artificial brain is noice. Love the murky production

nice title, lol
yeah i liked it, pretty good
honestly i can't give any legitimate recommendations on this particular style of music really because i only recently got back into it, only shit i can really think of that's similar is like wbtbwb, but i listened to that when i was 16, so

i listen to powerviolence though, it's pretty similar, you ever listen to man is the bastard? they're probably one of the more popular powerviolence bands
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7buT_DCJAWU
>>
>>36845619
yeah the highest amount of characters that i can remember in their name is xavleg, so that's what i call them, though i never really thought about it. xav would probably be more concise, though
>>
>>36845619
I usually refer to them as "Ex-Avel-Egg"(pronunciation of the first few letters Xavlg) or just say that grind band that did a dicks out for harambe song.

I've never even heard of that band nor the genre, ill check it

That song is actually pretty sick, It's a pity most bands within that horizon are like impossible to get CDs of as they mostly limit themselves to the local scene

another mitb song, this might actually be better than the other
their albums are kind of clusterfucky though, lots of reprisals and noise tracks so i'm trying to find the songs that aren't as long

Grave Digger have quite a few concept albums in their catalog. Stuff about the Scottish rebellion, Greek rebellion, the Templar knights, even about the last days of Jesus. Pretty decent stuff, used to love that band when I was younger.

It's pretty shit.

It's all I listened when I was like 13-22 years old.

I mean there's loads of talented musicians and blah blah blah - but the music genre only knows how to be angry.

Whenever there's a fun & happy metal band - which is one in a million - it's always haiding some autistic meme filter like being one of those beercore bands or pirate metal or LARP music.

It's fine when you're raging through puberty, but it gets real old real fast if you ever mature past the mindset of a teenager.

I used to listen to metal, but it never really carried the emotional punch that certain punk did for me. As technical and fast and dark sounding as metal can get, it just doesn't make me feel pissed off and energetic like certain punk bands.

I also used to give a shit about politics so listening to punk was perfect - but I don't care about politics anymore and punk as a music genre is pretty meh.

I also used to have a meme punk jacket with patches and spikes all over. I'm glad to have been around when there was an active local indie scene.

I mostly listen to doom and stoner metal.

Used to like metal a lot, its still fun, but it gets repetitive and same-sounding real fucking fast.

I went to a metal concert two days ago and 3/4 of the bands sounded the exact same, except the singer. one was a young dude with an "ehhh...", then an old dude with an "ehhh..." voice, then an Swedish dude with an "ehhh..." voice. However Delain was pretty awesome.

meh, other music genres do uplifting/positive music much better.

The fact that metal is just about brutality/darkness is both its appeal and is great at doing that, but it's also its drawback when you're looking for something else.

It's like when I want to eat something totally delicious but extremely unhealthy. I don't want to the low-fat no-sodium new and improved version - if I want to eat healthy I'd have a salad instead.

I mean remove punk/metal and its subgenres from the family tree of music, and then pick one from the rest that's remaining and any genre does positive/fun music much better than those two.

Even crossover stuff like pop-punk or glam metal You can't really dance to those subgenres.

I guess I can post some specific songs if you'd like, give me a minute though.

When I had a hateful attitude way back when, it wasn't just limited to women. I hated all humans equally.

When I got more and more into the genre, started playing an instrument and having a band, the energy from hate turned into a desire to become a better musician. I still listened to some bands that offered the same grit that OP's pic related has, but only if they offered a decent amount of musicality (Origin, etc.).

Nowadays I only listen to metal for nostalgia.
>>

>>36851673
gay, it doesn't have to be romantic.

>>36851713
yeah but that's the thing though. Moshing and any other sort of "dancing" with metal and punk and hardcore is a collective thing, it's never something that you directly do with another girl (or guy?).
