Because conservatism appeals to the elderly and the industrious traditionalism of the south. Usually people who follow conservatism are used to being bossed around, being a lesser man and being told what to do, and this is bred in mass within large unpopulated areas with traditional value systems. And the people who inhabit these areas, otherwise known as "trump country" are usually uneducated due to the low population, and lack of technology and academia.

This is why you'll find a lot higher IQ's in highly populated cities, more prestigious colleges, thinner people (fat people are usually -3 IQ points statistically) and mostly liberals.

That is a horrible, horrible, attempt at statistical analysis. It's based on the premise that IQs are spread randomly over various races and not correlated with political views. The conclusion then drawn is precisely the opposite: that some political views are held by smarter people. How do we know that the people disqualified weren't all the ones voting for McCain in each race?
