Humans are inherently short-run thinkers and the only costs conservacucks see are the ones that go in and out of their paycheck. They don't see rise in literacy due to public school funding, or the lack of infrastructure failure due to a modernized gasoline tax. They cannot grasp the concept of an external cost because they are incredibly short-minded. Economic policy is built around looking out for issues that arise around the normal short-run human decision making and the conservative ideology thrives around tax-cuts which are counter-intuitive to long-run interests. A tax cut today simply means a tax increase tomorrow and nobody seems to grasp that because fuck the future.
