Does she think I REALLY give a shit about this stuff at this point? No, I do it to have some kind of social interaction with the people I am living with. The same goes for watching Family Feud with my Dad, or talking to him about some old-ass country singers from the 50s. I "don't know anything about that" stuff but I still try.

But they can't be assed to reciprocate on anything I care about, even more "normal" subjects like something interesting that happened in the tech industry news. They make no effort at all. also anyone unironically thinking memes are funny. reposting/sharing funny videos (when they do actually contain some content that's funny) is fine, but when people just use the standard meme formulas without adding any humor it's just the worst. it's like they discovered "omg meems" only in 2011 on 9GAG or funnyjunk or something and now that's the only kind of humor they can appreciate. this extends to 4chan too, there's a lot of decent, funny, original content here (mostly greentext stories) but the forced memes get tired out way too quickly. thing is, everyone here is usually using them ironically or has some sort of cynical attitude towards them, whereas people on 9gag and reddit etc. seem to be unironically and enthusiastically posting them as if they're actual humor.

and on a semi-related note, i have a pet peeve for people who call using paragraphs "reddit spacing". i've never posted on reddit and on the rare times i've seen screencaps or links to threads there i don't see any more use of paragrpahs than usual. it's just an easy way to separate thoughts in one post.
