All these "pull yourself by your bootstraps" /r/GetMotivated type of "plans" all have one thing in common. They don't account for the human element. It's perfectly okay to sometimes think you're job sucks or to whine about it. You shouldn't just plaster a smile on your face 24/7 and act like a maniac because Mike Rowe thinks all universities should be trade schools.

It's perfectly fine to have a bad day or be depressed. You can still end up being successful.

Also it's hard to treat the "don't follow your passions" advice if it's coming form someone who became successful by following his passion.
