Well, don't I feel special. Feel no obligation to read all of the following as it turned out to be a bit of a wall of text, but it's just nice to have an excuse to type it out, help work through my own mind.
I don't think buying snacks last night was a bad Idea, I just ended up binge-eating and I think it messed with my sleep schedule. I should have taken greater measures to ensure I exercised self-control but going to the shops tends to exacerbate any existing stress, and I had a lot at the time.
Besides the broken sleep schedule being that my day has only been 5 hours long so far, today has been okay. I took a long shower to the point I'm cleaner than I've been in a long time, and then I sat in a cafe and studied until it closed. I worry I spend too much time at cafes, they're expensive around here, but they're a great environment to keep intrusive thoughts out and be productive. I worry that now I've been forced back into my own room my mood will take a downturn, but there's little I can do about that. I just realised I have eaten nothing all day, so I am back in the same position I was yesterday. I'm not sure what to do about that.
I can handle spice, I inherited what my mother would call "asbestos mouth", but as far as curries go I prefer mild ones as I find them more flavourful.

I've done this, for one (once very well known) poster with a spare 15 minutes and google.
I found his twitter, similar to his trip, he was just a regular guy, small to no real social circle, just into video games.

never shared because he was one of the good ones.

That's a good point, at least when I stopped drinking I only had work to worry about and didn't have any deadlines as such so I can't imagine the extra stress that you're experiencing. The fact that you're doing this well with that added pressure speaks volumes to me about your resolve and I have no doubt you're going to continue to do great things.

If there's anything I learned from working service, they really do not care about how much time you spend there - in fact I was much more comfortable knowing there was a regular there who wouldn't cause trouble than serving multiple 'strangers'. So I think you shouldn't worry!

If you find it comforting and you get work done then I think you've found a really great place :)

Ahhh you're always your own worst critic - If you want to try writing I think you should try! I'd love to read it if you ever write something!
