Italy was pretty much real fascism, though Italians can't do anything properly because they're all criminals. Fascism doesn't collapse in on itself, unlike communism. I'm saying that totalitarian government is not necessarily a requirement of fascist ideology. it's pretty hard to articulate a fascist ideology that's not authoritarian in nature, but totalitarian exercise of power is just unnecessary and defeats the point of the whole exercise. it's not cooperation if you make everyone's life totally rigid, and you lose all sense of innovation and love in a totalitarian society.
