Compliments you've gotten

i almost immediately forget any compliment i receive.

i assume it's someone being disingenuous so they can feel good about themselves for being "nice" ("you look good today!" etc.). just give them the "thank you, you too!" attention they desire and move on.

in the context of work/writing, i will also disregard any kind of positive statement about what i've done because it's worthless as criticism. people who tell me "you're a great writer!" or whatever aren't actually helping me in any way.
useful criticism only comes from people who hate your work and want you to kill yourself, which is part of why i continue to use this awful website.

people who desire external validation are weak.

I was a shut-in in high school, got bullied a bit and never paid attention to so I assumed I was ugly and worthless.
