Hey, guys, I wanna buy a new laptop, but I have a low budget. I have only 200 pounds and want to buy a good laptop. Are there any recommendations or what should I look for when buying a new laptop? Also, I am not very tech savvy, and so I might need help with finding a specific type of laptop for my needs.
No crome books or anything alike. I wanna be able to download things if I have to.

Just to use and maybe play steam games with. I mainly want it because I'm fed up with using the family computer and just want my own personal thing.

"Steam games" is a very broad term. What kind of games?
>>

civ 5. and of course in an original way

Prices may be different in the UK, but here in Russia it is quite hard to buy a laptop capable of running CIV 5 at a decent framers for around 200 pounds.
You have two options:
1. Get a used laptop
2. Play civ in the "strategic" mode. It looks like a board game but that means it can run on a potato

Decent framerate*

for a little more I got me a HP laptop without OS, with an amd a8 processor which is comparable to low-tier i3 from intel, and it even has a simple graphics card.
If you want higher performance for the same money, second hand is the only way to go. be sure to check benchmarks of CPU/GPU to make sure you're not buying outdated garb though

I might just have to add a 100 or two. What is the bare minimum for buying a decent laptop that might be able to run civ 5 or 6 if it's out?

Civ 5 is from 2009. If I have to take a gamble, my laptop can easily run it..

I really don't know what your options are in the uk buddy. I found IGN has a great deals section where you might have a look.
Find something comparable to new i3 if you want to do minimum gaming ex. high performance games, find newest gen i5 or comparable if you want to play newer games like civ (I think shooters etc don't work on a laptop)
and watch for a non onboard gpu, because most games need to have something more decent.

What specs should I look for in a computer when buying one to play steam games such as civ 5 then?
>>
>>36695740
Asus x53e. They're in eBay for 160$ and they have an i5 and a 2.5ghz processor
>>
>>36698599
is that good enough to play civ 5 on steam?
>>
>>36695740
most modern laptops only weight a few pounds, so you should be good
