My friend got a note from him after cooperating on a project, thanking him for being nice to him. My friend laughed at it but secretly I felt bad for the guy, since he was basically seen as a freak.

In case anyone was curious about this one, if I recall correctly, the school had a parking lot that was monitored by this mean old guy who tried to make sure people weren't leaving early (several years later they decided to have gates closing the entire lot except for one monitored exit). The incident apparently had that the kid decided not to stop at the checkpoint and almost ran the old man over.
