(Btw pic related is my left leg, right leg got amputated) Help me out here please people, Ever since my near fatal motorbike accident I have had a very bad fear of death, not just death but the process of dying.

Has anyone of you been at the scene of someone who was dying either at hospital or somewhere else? I would love to hear your stories.

Basically I died at the scene but they brought me back in the ambulance then I died again on the way and they brought me back in the hospital.

NOW the fucked up thing is I remember it, I was lying on the pavement, couldnt move much and then a numb feeling started creeping up on me, eventually I started having great difficulty breathing that made me panic quite a bit as I tried to stand up but could not and eventually to my horror I started choking on my own fluids, and then I passed out.

Now I have been doing a shit load of research into what happens when you get old etc, What concerns me the most is that in the majoritiy of cases is like a FEW DAYS of the following process: First you get bedridden, then eventually you cannot control your bowels and need constant cleaning/changing of sheets. Fluid builds up in the lungs which can also cause panic attacks or agitation. Then if you lucky you hallucinate and eventually if the pain doesnt make you go first you simply death rattle (choke to death)

My question for debate is how do you plan on avoiding this shit?

I plan on a shotgun blast to the head, not a fuck am I going through this, imagine if you have no family or close friends at the time? Nah man fuck this. I do not agree with this finality.

yes, i see a death every 2-4 weeks or so

most people die pretty peacefully when they finally get to that point, but a lot of times they are suffering right before

make sure you are DNR/DNI before you're unable to make that decision
>>
Same. I'll have blown my head off long before any of that shit happens.

Aren't you a doctor? What kind?

I went swimming in a river in virginia when I was 14, drowned and was legally dead for 20 minutes.
After I came back I smelled the stench for 5 years straight. Eventually I went back to normal, but in the mean time I formulated my plan for when I'm ready to go:
I've set aside 10k in my savings, enough to take a "tourist" trip to a third world country, I'm thinking somewhere deep in a jungle in south america. I live out the rest of my hours in some remote village smoking as much of the good herb as I can afford from the locals. Mind you, I've only done weed once in my life, but it was enough to open my eyes that this is how I want to go.

I was in a car crash, the other driver died and all I got were scrapes and bruises. The guilt was insane. It's fucked up that I'm still here and he's just not. Your life can just end at any time even if you do nothing wrong.

If you've only smoked weed once, you really don't understand how the different strains will affect you, or how different a large dose of weed can be from a small dose.

You might end up freaking the fuck out if the strain doesn't have a balance of cannabinoids that sits well with you or if you smoke too much.

I watched my mother die from cancer when I was 12. It's a slow and awful death and I honestly wish she had died in a car crash or something before she had to suffer through years of treatment and eventually a slow and painful death.

the most boring kind. but yes i see a lot of people die. it usually doesnt phase me (nor anyone else) because it's usually old people whose deaths were sort of expected or at least not a huge surprise. every once in a while ill get a more "unique" case and those deaths stick around forever.

One of the first patients i had ever taken care of was a 33 year old dude who had cirrhosis from a combination of drinking and being a double heterozygote for hemachromatosis (a liver disease). He was depressed as fuck, had no friends, only family around was a step brother, and his belly was distended to the size of one of those exercise balls at the gym. i drained a total of 18 liters off of that guy and sent him home and kept a tab on his medical record every few months or so. After he left the hospital it seemed like he had a few more ups and downs - started to develop renal failure, apparently had to go to his GP for viagra because he couldnt get a boner to masturbate, and nearly became homeless after he got into some shit with his step brother. Overall though, he seemed to be doing relatively stable

Then one day I had some free time at work and opened up his chart again, and found out he was dead. He must have been found dead at home or something since there was no information on how he died. Just like that, someone who I took care of, built a relationship with, and followed closely, just dead

daily reminder that people who ride motorcycles are suicidal maniacs and deserve to die.

That guy's last couple of years on this planet sound depressing as hell. What kind of work did he do, or was he just a non-functioning alcoholic?

More depressing patient stories please.

I received a severe injury when I was younger. On the way to the hospital, they stopped the bleeding. I felt very lonely during this time. After realizing I survived what happened, I was pretty happy. But years later, thinking about what happened made me sad.

I think dying just feels really lonely, and I don't like it when people say it's a good thing because you're "free" now.

If you know you're going to die soon and experience a lot of pain and suffering, do whatever you can to prevent it, but I want to live. I believe eventually we'll have technology so great that the universe will be "Heaven" and we'll even be able to bring dead people back to life. Perhaps with 3D printers and supercomputers running a simulation of the universe to find people at the moment of their death, and "printing" them back to life. I don't know for sure, but I feel like this is absolutely what's going to happen, somehow. I want to live as long as possible to help people and make this happen.

So did you have any sort of NDE or was it just passing out and nothingness?

Doctor Anon

Can drinking like 4 beers and smoking a joint kill you? I think I was just hallucinating pretty bad, and it was just beer and pot, but sometimes I think I was having an NDE.
>>
>>36610727
If assisted death ever becomes legalized I'll probably do that. Just take a huge dose of opiates and nod into oblivion
>>
>>36612666
There are people with more beer and weed than that in them posting right now

No, but weed especially seems to be able to induce panic attacks and make people think they're dying. Could be from temporary disassociation or heart palpitations, but it's a pretty common thing. You'd have to drink a ton of hard alcohol or suffocate from smoking weed to die that way.

There is a theory out there that you can't die but when you die, you're dead. So basically, when you die, you die on that time line. But if there is the slimiest chance that you can live, you will live on in a split time line. You're dead in all the others, but alive in another, this one. If you try to kill yourself, the gun will jam. I should be dead as well.

This is literally the most stupid thing I have ever read in my entire life.
