When I was 13, my mother got drunk, cracked 3 of my ribs (pushed me down and started kicking me). I was kicking my legs out, desperate for her to stop, left a bruise on her thigh, and she had the gall to call the police ON ME. Claiming that I had assaulted her. The cops showed up, saw this half-black kid assaulting his white mom, and they didn't think twice, they just put me in the car and took me to the station.

If my dad didn't have a good lawyer, I could have easily ended up with a criminal conviction.

When i was 24 i ruptured a spinal disc that ended up compressing my sciatic nerve, causing me the worst pain i have ever experienced. The doctors made me try a bunch of shit that didnt help for months before actually operating on it because "lol surgery last rezort" it ended up being so long that my leg muscles and sciatic nerve shrank because it hurt too much to extend. Took a year of physical therapy to return to normal walking.

Best part? I have no idea how i ruptured that disc. I was the only patient of that doctor under 70.

Passing kidney stones when I was 15. Shit was the most painful thing that's ever happened to me.

I was hanging out with somebody I used to be friends with and somehow we ended up in his garage or something, then all of a sudden his hand was around my throat. He choked me for a minute, then he stopped and just sort of looked at me weird. I stayed at his house and hung out and kept talking to him afterward, I don't know why my brain didn't register that as inappropriate until a long while later and we had stopped talking.
I'm not particularly traumatized by it but I'm still confused as to why I didn't sense the danger even while it was happening.
