Do you sleep with your contacts on?
Does anybody here with astigmatism in both eyes comfortably wear contacts?
I want to start wearing contacts again but the ones I have from a few years ago feel like shit and make my eyes hurt after just a few hours.

Are you insane? Do you realize that you can actually go blind by doing this?

I used contacts for years and I have both astimatism and myopia. Contacts are actually TOO comfy, it's like having normal eyes, which is why I stopped because I almost fell asleep with them several times and while having glasses is a pain, I'd rather not go blind after getting contacts fused to my cornea and/or causing bacterial infection.

I nap with them on but I don't usually sleep with them on overnight.
Although once I took a 3 day long trip and decided to just keep them in my eyes rather than bring solution with me since I was worried it'd freeze. It worked out ok but it was getting kind of uncomfortable.

>blind
how?
fuck contacts and glasses
>>36475549
>Contacts are actually TOO comfy
Can you tell me your brand or brands? And specific type if that's a thing.
>I almost fell asleep with them several times
while I understand that you want to be careful, a lot of the lenses nowadays are actually extended wear friendly and can sit in your eyes for days without causing a problem. I dated a girl who wore her lenses to sleep every night and she had no problems with her eyes.
I would probably just put them in an overnight solution every night.

I don't know about blind, but basically your eyes get really dry and start hurting.

Happened a few times, yes. Wouldn't recommend at all. Even putting them in tap water is preferable if you suddenly manage to sleep elsewhere.

I'm not him, but after googling around, leaving your contacts in your eyes can deprive your eyes of oxygen and cause bacterial infection or something.

>rapid eye movement
>wearing a thin piece of plastic between your eyeball and eyelid while asleep
NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT AT ALL. The girl you dated was a stupid dumb fucking cunt who's now wondering why she has to wear reading glasses.

>If I take a nap or accidentally fall asleep/ pass out drunk
>when I wake up they're blurry and stuck to my eyes
>last opticians appointment
>says its better if I don't but doesn't make that much of a difference
>veins in my eyes show I have them in too long
>try and make an effort to wear glasses in the house

Fuck you and you're mother
only a few situations ive slept with contacts on, like randomly crashing at a friends house. It sucks because you'll wake up with fuckin gooey eyes.
cant wear contact for too long in the day, try to switch it up with glasses sometimes.

>plastic
no they're like 70% water or something, I swear it is a real thing and people safely wear their contacts to sleep

Not the guy you replied to but my optician gave me solution and contact lenses without preservative and they're much more conformable now. Apparently I was getting `ridges and bumps' under my eyelids from the preservative

If you can't google a few words I'm now worried that you're intellectually disabled. Please ask a non intellectually disabled person to help you with your healthcare choices.

Overestimated or not, the risk is there. If you're willing to risk your eyesight on a "meh it's probably fine", that's your choice. I'm not taking chances with that kind of thing.

The invoice reads "1 day acuvue trueye". It's actually convenient because you don't have to use solution, you just throw them away at the end of the day. You can also use them for specific occasions : you don't have to wear them everyday as they're all individually packaged. Not sure if you can get that particular brand as I live in France. Also, comfyness has more to do with your eyes than different brands. Maybe your eyes are too dry for contacts.

my optometrist last time I got contacts had me using that bausch and lomb rinse stuff that is saline-based I think. Biotrue it's called.
you can just spray it on your contact and immediately put it in your eye
I don't know if that's the kind of thing you're talking about and if another would work better.
PLS HELP I really want to get contact lenses again so I want some advice from people who are set up to be comfy in contact lenses.
>>36475477
I'll take naps in them, but never sleep through the night with them. The worst is when they get a little dry and you rub your eye and suddenly it's stuck on the inside of your eyelid.

Depends on the kind of contacts you wear. Traditional ones you're not supposed to sleep in, but nowadays they have "extended wear" ones. You can sleep in them and change them once a month. It's really convenient. You're right, don't do that unless the eye doc who gave em to you says you can do that kind of thing though.
