>get off the internet
>suddenly lonely
What the fuck?
Anybody else know this feel?
Original feels man
Life is just a distraction from the process of dying, especially if you're not rearing offspring.
Some distractions are considered more maladaptive and some are considered virtuous but that will vary depending on what (if any) value system you subscribe to.

Yes. It's the reason why most of us can't leave even if we know 4chan (or reddit or tumblr or whatever social media shit) is a bad influence in our lives. What do you want us to tell you.
Because you use the internet as a replacement for friends because you're too socially awkward to make friends irl. Work on your social skills and make some real friends.

It's just super weird to me. It's not like I'm talking in a Skype group or that I even know any of you. However when I go to read a book, I'm hit by this crushing loneliness even though I'm just reading either way. Maybe it distracts me from my life just surreptitiously enough. It seems so sinister but that's just me being lonely

That's probably true. It's a friend substitute. However how many friends do you need to not be lonely? You can get bored with one or like a relationship where you are always around each other?

>evolutionary purpose
I get the subjective value system though some like playing vidya and others see it as a waste.

It's because, for all intents and purposes, this is social media and any form of aocial media is effectively a tranquilizer. If you took the internet away there would be riots daily over the current economic prospects, political atmosphere (or lack thereof), overcrowding and overpopulation, I mean look around. Our quality of life is down in every area but hahaha you millenials have phones and shiet. That's the stuff keeping us down. It keeps us stupid and happy so we let our world go to pieces. We're all slaves to it to. As much as tumblr claims to fight for justice or /pol/ claims to know redpills they're both equally enslaved by these massive invisible chains.
And yet here we are. Playibg prisoner's dilemma with a whole generation of people.
