When that shit got added in the site stopped a lot of the spam, but it also discourages people from posting.

Also 4chan really can be a hive mind sometimes, you'll think about posting something only to see someone else has already written what you wanted to say, exactly how you wanted to say it too, so at that point adding a reply like "^THIS" just degrades the quality of the thread.
