Hello /r9k/ do therapists help ease the suffering?

You're thinking of a psychiatrist. They're the ones with the drugs.

Nothing will ever ease the suffering under any circumstances
>Time's up
Why would I pay someone to pretend to care about my problems?

Nice trips. No a therapist can't fully help you. Meds are what usually give you the bump needed to start the path of getting better.
Therapists are really no different than a self help book.

Go to Nick's thread here on /r9k/ later today. Can't remember what the OP'll look like, but he helped me.

They can, sometimes, help you understand pain, I'd suggest you figure it out yourself, they may think you are crazy

Unless of course you are schizo or something and can't fully be helped. Either way, a therapist is usually pointless.

FUCK therapists
you have to understand that they are just normies at the end of the day and will not understand your pain

Also, if you have NOBODY to talk to and don't want to talk to people online then a therapist could at least be someone to chat with just so you aren't lonely

Therapists can help, but only if you get a good one. A bad one can make you feel pretty shitty.
Most of the time you have to realize that they cannot truly empathize with you and that they are really just a sounding board that can help you figure out your problems.

This is honestly a pretty accurate account of why therapy can feel pretty detached.
But I would recommend giving it a try if your insurance covers it. Problem is many insurance companies in the US don't cover mental health related problems unless there are pills involved.
If you tell a therapist you are suicidal there is a chance they will go full retard and have you stuck in a mental ward with schizophrenics for up to 3 days so be wary.

This and this are the most accurate posts so far. I'm currently seeing a doctor so i'm also forced to see a therapist. It's annoying talking to someone who doesn't understand you.
Ask your friends at >>>/adv/ about it :)

think about it anon, they are paid more if you have to come back to them every week. they don't get money for fixing your problems permanently.
