Also additionally, I know a dude who does production work for TV and Radio and he lied about his whole resume and not a single person checked him for his first job.

I have heard people get called for references when it's like police work, or gov't work but rarely do they call for retail cucking or restaurant. The people hiring you are people who started at your level and are too over worked to check and double check as a manager.
