Anyone hate making eye contact? Tips to overcome this?

had that problem quite badly from ages 14-21 or so, unfortunately i'm not entirely sure how i grew out of that shit, so to speak

i do vividly recall my aversion to gazing into people's eyes even for a moment. had to do with some pseudo-spiritual shit, i guess. felt like i could determine things about folk through their eyes, and i didn't want any of that

not sure if that was entirely delusion on my part, if it was true but i sorta lost touch with the "ability" or something in between

hopefully you're below 21 and are gonna get used to looking folk in the eyes!

more practically, a lengthy spell in a hotel job or two and somewhat copious consumption of marijuana and alcohol may have helped

i'm 25 now and fairly socially active, at least as far as a 40+ hour work week and full-time classes allows

i still make less eye contact than a lot of folk that have a more direct gaze. nobody thinks those folks are creepy, btw. coincidentally or not, most of the people i hang out with a very direct stare or gaze ARE a bit less...balanced than others. love them just the same, and probably more for it.

but ye man, i've got a roving gaze. i like to look at shit, especially outside. generally in 15 seconds of me speaking i'll be looking into the other person's eyes for 1-3 seconds. if they're speaking i'm maintaining eye contact about 7-8 seconds out of 15 maybe.

without knowing you aside from 2 lines of text and a pepe, i can not at all give an informed opinion on if you look creepy at any time. i will say that i have my share of paranoia that i've learned to live with or fight off, and i reckon that plenty of fuckers on here have it a LOT worse
