>Be introverted and awkward as fuck.
>Go whole class periods without saying a word.
>9 weeks into the semester, start going to English class early.
>Read a book before class starts because I don't like doing nothing.
>A week into this new routine, a guy notices me and my book and strikes up my first conversation in the class.
>Another week in class of this, and a girl literally approaches me for the first time in my life, asking if I know a good book to read. Says she never reads and figured I'd know because "you're always reading."
What the hell, m8s. Can any other robots confirm this?
Damn nigga. I read a lot but I'm a shut in, so it hasn't worked yet.
Alright I'll give this a try and read before every class of mine. I'll report back in 2 weeks with my progress.

Yeah man; at Easter a girl initiated conversation and despite my awkwardness I was able to talk with her. We spoke about authors and books. I'm glad I started reading a year ago.

normies feel uncomfortable is someone is acting exactly the same as them, so they go out of their way to include you, even if it makes them unhappy or uncomfortable
this is entirely subconscious so they'll never admit it, but thiss is why
Reading's pretty good actually. I used to read at my old job and people from other sections would just randomly ask me about it if they saw me at lunch or in the carpark or w/e.
My guess is that most people like to talk and look for an avenue to do so. Standing around quietly doesn't give them anything to work with, but standing around quietly reading does.

Very good point, anon. Having a book gives them something to talk about.
>Tfw I'm going to do this in every class next semester.
What are some good books to read anyways? Don't post /lit/ memes like OP did.
Reading is very solitary, but it can attract other solitary awkward people to you. Case in point, me and my boyfriend.

I unironically get many of my reading suggestions from neogaf's reading threads. The fiction and history suggestions are usually good
