When I first started I smoked kamel red 100s, then for a while I smoked American spirits, they're okay but a lot of people don't like them.
Now I smoke Marlboro nxt's.

As for what you're supposed to feel, cigarettes are supposed to take the edge off, calm you down in stressful times, etc.

Not that anon but I would recommend a psychedelic if you're looking at all options to quit. Smoked for six years and quit in a week after an LSD trip and haven't touched a cigarette for two years now.
