>Been taking drum lessons for about three weeks
>I fucking hate it, my teacher knows I'm shit at this.
>He keeps sighing when I fuck up and don't grasp what he's explaining to me, checks the time on his phone every ten seconds, always leaves earlier than he said he would, long silences between us after I finish some fills
>When I have a question or try to make conversation he just alphas me hard and I give up trying to make him understand my beta nature
>This is costing me like 35 dollary doos a fucking week and I'm not getting even slightly better thanks to my autistic brain and lack of talent
What do robots? I'm not looking forward to telling him I wanna quit the lessons, but I'm certain he thinks I'm a faggot either way. Should I just man up and quit this hell? I figure I'd be happier making my own tracks at home in any case.
Tell him you'll have to reschedule your next lesson and cut all contact. That's what I do in those types of situations.

well, were you rushing or were you dragging?
You should only be doing half hour sessions every week, once a week. This should cost you $20NZD, or equivalent in your currency. That's all it cost me. To be fair, I learnt through a tutor, not a genuine teacher. I'm not fit to play in something like a marching band, but I can definitely play well enough to satisfy myself and jam with others.
The key thing anon, is to practice for about half an hour a day. It doesn't have to be half an hour, but as long as you are practicing something each day, you'll improve.
Try paradiddles over and over to improve, you can air drum them with both your hands and feet, and you can easily start over and go at any speed.
I don't mind helping you out a bit if you want some more advice, though I don't know how long I'll be active on here, so I'm willing to add you on discord if you'd like.

Why bother taking lessons - and paying for them, no less - for something you dislike?

something like this should work
how are you paying your teacher? if your doing it by cash you could just stop coming all together

1.) Your teacher sucks.
2.) You shouldn't learn any instrument with a teacher. Just buy an instrument and practice at home for at least 2 hours a day, you should be fine eventually. Plus, the lack of structure allows you to come up with some melodies and structures that even experimental artists dream of being able to come up with.
3.) Drums are not a real instrument.

I've been doing just about hour long sessions most weeks with him at $35NZD. I think just practicing each day for brief periods works much better for me really than a drawn out lesson.
I'm quite similar because I just want to get good enough to jam with others and be pretty competent. My discord is OneTon#7459, feel free to drop some more advice on me. I'm feeling pretty useless with it right now.
