why isn't anything real on /r9k/? was it ever?

All the real stuff has like +6 replies and then gets archived. Most of the shit threads get 300+ replies because they are proven methods of obtaining replies. I guess people just like replying to bait.

Yeah it used to be full of cool talk about real shit. science/tech/politics/etc. Strict enforcement on not replying to personal blog and lonely threads.

I think most of the people who liked to talk about those things went to dedicated boards.
I'd do the same but I'm always concerned about unknowingly breaking some unwritten rule and getting a site-wide ban from some sperg mod.

Same. I used to go on /v/ but then it got all no-fun-allowed and shit, so I came here. Now you've got these fucking, I dunno, /pol/fags or whatever trying to get rid of the gay threads and the degenerate threads and basically price me out of the goddamn area again.

If there are people that decide to use filters and only reply to good content, then there will be more around.
