is the police gonna go through your computer if you kill yourself?
>>36324561
Only if the death is suspicious I would guess.
>>36324561
Yes, if permission by the owner of the house the computer resides. That's how people get to understand what they were doing all their lives.
>>36324603
they're not gonna bother to crack through it if it's password protected right?
i don't wanna wipe my computer then pussy out at the last minute and come back to a wiped computer
please respond anons you're the only ones i have
>>36324603
Do they do this though?
>>36324692
Depends how. Some things are trivial to unlock for them. If it's just a password-protected login, then yeah they can bypass it trivially. Might be the case with Windows built-in disk encryption too (because Microsoft gave them master keys of some sort). Or not, I don't know.
That's why I use VeraCrypt. Pretty sure it's safe.
I unironically encrypt my disks so that the police won't judge me if I die.

what about the password set in the bios before the drives even boot?
>>36325335
Can usually be reset by removing the CMOS battery. Can be bypassed by putting the disks in another computer anyway.

Who's that lady
Beautiful lady
Lovely lady
Real fine lady
Hear me callin' out to you
'Cause it's all that I can do
Your eyes tell me to pursue
But you say look yeah, but don't touch, baby
>>36325423
i see, guess i gotta get an encryption program then. i wonder if they'll even try to look through deleted files
>>36325530
>i wonder if they'll even try to look through deleted files
Maybe. They've got software toolkits that collect relevant info automatically. Maybe recently deleted files show up.
Also, forgot to tell you, don't kys anon.
But encrypt your disks. Only normies keep their disks unencrypted because it's all normal stuff.
>>36325618
thanks anon, im just feeling trapped in my situation, though i haven't seriously contemplated it yet
>>36325852
Yeah me too.
I feel like all the stuff on my computer and stuff that I've posted online (and the porn I watch kek) could be collected and serve as a psychological study case some day. Not like they'd do this now, but they could still collect it.
