Yes I'm a third year game design student.

I use OpenGL with freeGLUT, but I've been looking at either including sfml libraries or moving onto something like Vulcan.

Is the universe on earth? If so, where on earth is it located? What makes it sci-fi?
I am self-learned on several subjects and officially studying ecology.

Basically a medieval RPG that actually plays in the future but people somehow forgot about technology, and see the remaining tech object as magical
you have to figure out what happened and how to restore enough technology to remake a modern civilization

Is this going to be just a universe or will this become an actual game? If so then what type of game will it be? FPS? RPG? Surival?

you seem a bit big headed, no one is going to want you to "allow them " to be part of your stupid idea.

Ive been interested in making a sci-fi civ-simulation game like dwarf fortress but involving less micro-management than dwarf fortress while allowing interesting macro management of troops and buildings

well it's an overarching idea, and I've already invested a lot of time into planets, biology, the technology, the landscapes, so I'm only going to allow people I trust and have written good ideas to be a part of it, I don't think that's unreasonable, at all.

People are allowed artistic freedom within the confines of the universe, but the point is I want writers that are good by their own merits and can prove they can work on their own, and are open to self and others critique that I can work seperately, but beside, to make something bigger.

of course I'm fully open to critique of what I've already written.

I want to aim for more RPG than survival, but some survival elements.

I would like some mmo components, buit I want the AI to feel like players in lieu of actual players.

I played The WoW solo project and I loved how much freedom the AI had, and how believable they were, I want gothic/Risen levels of AI so basically, there is no real need for multiplayer.

I also don't want proc gen, I want deliberately placed content within a world that can change if it wants to, AI can choose to sell their quest items if they want.

I want to keep races to a minimum, the less races, the more I can flesh out the few races I have, so many games go too big too fast and then can't possibly accomodate or explain all of these races.

There is one advanced alien race.

My space travel is generational ships, and a form of petrification (medusa style)

It's Sci-fi in that technology has been abandoned, but this technology is rare, so although some things are incredibly advanced, other things are basic, and tribal.

People hoard technology.

People have abandoned technology.

There are intelligent AI that haven't seen new parts in generations.

tying it directly to earth restricts me heavily, for instance I wanted most AI to be confined to floppy disc storage, so AI intelligence is determined by how optimally they write their own code.

This wouldn't be possible on an earth like universe.

despite this, my universe doen't contain anything magic or unbelievable, believability is a core tenant of my universe right now.

I do have a small (small) magic system that is fully based on atom division.
