In my teens I had a compulsion to look at gore photos/videos on /b/ and other sites. I was also a bit depressed and once had a flashback on the highway that almost killed my Dad and I. Around that time I refused to look at shit like that again purposely and lost the "addiction".
Do you guys think we are permanently affected by the bad shit we can see on 4chan/internet? I don't even flinch at anything anymore and am desensitized but much happier/normie-like now (3-4 years since I would regularly view that bullshit). I'm also pretty cold as in I don't emphasise easily, especially with dumb normie bullshit. This has its pros/cons...

You sound like a little bitch honestly. It might just be you.

They aren't called shock videos for nothing, genius
Saw a bunch of crazy gore pics when i was ten and it fucked me up for like two weeks. Intense. Got obsessed with it around 16/17 and now im very unaffected. BUTTTTTTT a few months ago i saw a woman get squashed by a bus and honestly im so fucked in the head because of it i want to die. U only get desensitized to internet death, seeing it irl not so much

It's fucked because you were there, so you don't know if you could have done something or not.
But just remember that if you were in that woman's position, no one would care or try to help you.

No. Graphic violence and death has been a common part of human life for the vast majority of our existence, just like it is for every other creature living in its natural habitat.
If you'd >>36302625 been killing animals for food and killing other humans to defend your territory like humans did for the vast, vast, 99% of our evolutionary history, you'd certainly be "desensitized" to it from a modern perspective but from the perspective of what's normal for our species, it would make much more sense to argue that we're greatly oversensitive to it.
Why the fuck does everyone want to claim to be a victim so bad now, This shit was hardly happening 50 years ago.
I want victim culture to end.

I used to look at gore out of morbid curiousity back when I was a teenager, a lot of the time I just unintentionally stumbled across it, it kinda fucked me up mentally, like seeing the horrible things that happen to a lot of people and how horrific the world can be probably contributed to my depression, I sometimes have nightmares about the various horrible shit I've seen, and unlike a lot of people I've actually become more sensitized to it and try to avoid it a lot harder now.
Anything can cause """""""""""""""PTSD""""""""""""""""""" these days
I think porn desensitized the shock of seeing a naked girl. Well at least for me, idk about the virgins on here.

I don't have trauma. I simply am the product of bad parenting. My mother left the TV light on as I slept. I never dreamt.

I'm surprised this would come as a shock to some of you. I always hide shit I don't want to see. Make use of the filters people.

>that OkCupid looks/personality chart
Jesus Christ. You'd think there'd at least be a few outliers where a person rated 1-2 in looks also gets a 3-4 in personality, but no, not a single one. Why even bother trying?
