The google definition of nihilism as it pertains to philosophy is "extreme skepticism maintaining nothing in the world has a real existence".

If this is the definition we choose to accept, then yes nihilism is retarded because to us it matters very little whether or not our day to day lives are real or not, we still have to live them or kill ourselves those are our only choices.
