I was just an oblivious freshman in college, trying to make ends meet. I always had troubles having strong relationships with other people, all thanks to me getting Asperger's Syndrome at the age of 2 (yes, I was officially diagnosed). I didn't really have any way to relate to other people about my problems, since I was too much of an aspie to properly discuss my issues. People always assumed I was just that socially awkward kid, and I would eventually grow out of it. They were mistaken.
Anyways, I was just browsing through the internet and discovered 4chan on accident. I never heard of this damn place. Checked out /b/ first. Big mistake. Then /pol/. Didn't know enough about politics to discuss anything. /x/, /a/, and /vg/ were pretty cool. But then I discovered /r9k/. As soon as I saw the front page filled with relationship issues and some greentext stories, I knew this would be my home board. I remember all the fucking tripfags that were shitposting every single fucking thread. Seriously, very fucking annoying. Sure, it wasn't it's old self back then, but it was still better than quite a few boards in my opinion. It was slow and some threads were actually pretty comfy. Just staying up all night, reading through post after post about others robots in the same situation as me. It made me feel like I belong, a place where I can finally call "home".
But, over the years, due to the increase of media attention to this site, it has been infested with newfags/normies. Those who don't know much about the culture of this board, and instead of lurking and trying to understand us, they instead mock us. They give us generic advice, expecting us to "Just do it bro". If I could actually easily socialize with others then I would do it immediately and would hardly even browse here.

This place was a board for robots to hang out, and share their daily issues without the stress of face-to-face socializing. It was a way for robots to support each other, hate each other, and struggle through the somewhat unfair ways of this world.
But now...now I just don't see it anymore. What the hell happened /r9k/? Where did all these newfags/normies come from? Why are they bragging about their wonderful social lives and trying to make us feel down for it. It's not like we haven't tried. I've definitely tried to get along with others, quite a few times. It just isn't very possible. It's hard. I know it isn't easy. Normies, I understand you want to attempt to help us in some way. I commend you for that. But trying to change others opinions over the internet is kinda stupid. Why don't you try to help those in your immediate area. Do you see anyone that doesn't talk much and tries to avoid people. Why don't you approach him/her and strike a conversation. They'll most likely act cold to you, but soon they'll warm up. Just give them time. You don't necessarily have to do this, but it's better than arguing over the internet.
