Mead is one of the longest ones to make since it's fermenting honey. I usually ferment it for about 1 month plus 1 month of flavoring it and 1 more month bare minimum for aging the flavor. So about 3 months before I drink one. Beers and wines are faster to make but I like mead since it's a specialty drink.

I go through phases.

Went through a LED phase.

Conclusion; LEDs use less wattage.
Average (consumer) LEDs can't compete [yet] with incandescent bulbs.

Not yet but my brother is making one for me, I'm garbage with art but he's fantastic. He's currently making a logo + sticker for the bottles so for now they are naked. I don't mean to toot my own horn but I've made a pretty fair amount of mead and they're all pretty good. I always try new flavors like mix berry, autumn spice, apple, and i'm always open to new suggestions for flavors.


Pic related is a mixed berry batch and I had someone from /b/ name it hence the name.

Pretty sure I've seen you on the /diy/ homebrew threads. I've been getting a nasty smell in my brews (I'm still new to it) and I'm not sure what it is. I've got nutrients, sanitation, temperature, and light controlled, so the only thing I can thing I can think of is insufficient "mass" for the yeast to feed on, like cellulose and shit to bike new cells. Does that sound right? I honestly don't know what else the fuck it could be.

Yeah you probably have saw some of my pics there. If it smells bad then it could be your alcohol is turning into vinegar but that's unlikely if your careful with sanitation. Most alcohol will smell somewhat bad when it's fermenting. Give it a few months and it should be fine I would say. Are you making wine, mead, beer, kilju?

I make music with my friend

I'm in the middle of starting a big garden to grow stuff for my family and to make myself feel somewhat productive. I'm still picking out rocks since this is my first time doing it, but I should be ready to plant by late next week. Making my own alcohol like OP sounds interesting so I might actually set apart a section of it to grow stuff and give it a try. I would rather grow my own ingredients instead of buying them since I think doing everything from the ground up would be more satisfying in the end.

I grow native plants from seeds and cuttings.

I found a native gooseberry growing on my property. I tasted some of the berries and I liked them. Tart, fruity, tasty.

So I learned to grow them from cuttings and now I have about 50 of them growing in 3 gallon pots.

Gooseberries are extremely easy to grow and just about every state has some manner of native varieties. There are hundreds of domesticated cultivated varieties as well that produce much larger fruits.

They'll root readily from cuttings, with the best cuttings seeming to be new growth that is semi-hard but not too young. Old wood doesn't root as easily but still can. No rooting compound needed. Just put the cutting in dirt and keep it watered, next spring it should grow.

I highly recommend growing gooseberries to everyone here. I recommend the Hinonmaki Red variety, as it is very flavorful, mildew resistant, easily bought even on Amazon, and only grows 3 feet tall so it's very manageable.

You can make gooseberry wine, gooseberry pie, or eat them fresh. They're very versatile, and as I said, once you have 1 gooseberry you can use it to grow more gooseberries.

Man, home brewing is so fun. It's a shame getting a quality setup for beer is so steep, but I make batches with my uncle's equipment from time to time. Otherwise, I'm making wine or liquor in buckets. Oh well, saves me money regardless.

I go sailing every Wednesday and Sunday to participate in races hosted by my local yacht club. I wanted to learn, so I e-mailed them asking if anyone needed help on a boat and since then I've made great friends doing so.

The place where I live also has a racetrack where I volunteer at during events, which has gotten me into a lot of behind the scenes access

I also like to shoot, mainly pistol and carbine with an emphasis on self defense, but I also plan on getting into long range shootinng.

also just recently obtained a succulent from a friend, which has sparked an interest I didn't know I had.

I read whenever I can, and I go to the gym 6 days out of the week.

I like fucking around in video game editors and excel documents. That's about it.

I know that this is seeming like more of an how to make alcohol thread but i love screwing around with electronics.

The right item was my first picaxe project making a steady maze game. The left item is a more recent project forming a jaccobs ladder circuit (taser kind of thing that resembles frakenstein movie effects). I currently have 2 weeks off for my mid semester break so im thinking of making an automated pet feeder for my rat.

I listen to a bunch of podcasts and photoshop pictures about the subjects they were discussing and send them to the hosts. Sometimes the hosts of two different podcasts are rivals who insult each other I photoshop embarrassing photos of each of the hosts and send them to their rival and help to stoke the rivalry. Listeners seem to enjoy it and I get plenty of likes on twitter but I have no real investment in any of the shows winning these arguments.

Sometimes I will edit the audio from podcasts and send it to someone else to make it sound like they were being insulted or make someone sound like an idiot.

Homebrew sugar wine is the robot drink of choice. Lately I discovered that aluminum foil works as an adequate airlock. No batches lost to infection yet, and it's cheap enough that I wouldn't really care if I did.

Lalvin EC-1118 champagne yeast. Any champagne yeast should work.

300g sugar/2 liter bottle, 2.5g Tronozymol brand yeast nutrient blend, 1.5g low sodium salt (66% KCl/33% NaCl). (none of those numbers guaranteed to be optimal). 400g sugar works too but needs more patience.

It's very clean tasting if you let it finish fermenting completely and wait for the yeast to settle out.

I take screenshots of videogames and transform them into profile pics. Here's on I really like.

I haven't done many games (nor have I finished with them) but I have pics from GTA IV and VC, Hitman absolution and blood money, RE5, Borderlands pre sequel, Jet Set Radio, TF2, CSGO, Heroes and Generals. There are more but I don't feel like naming them.

I play a lot of Dwarf Fortress, and make it my mission to install and play it on EVERY computer on my college campus. I've gotten a lot of them but they might be deleting it when I'm not watching >:(

My hobbies are learning languages and playing guitar.

I don't learn languages to understand media/entertainment or even speak with people, I just find them really fascinating, especially languages with non Latin writing systems such as Russian or Greek. It's a hobby which you can do for free (websites, torrenting, youtube) and is also useful.

Playing guitar is just fun as fuck albeit possibly expensive.

No, it's very easy. Buy a carton of grape juice. Buy some champagne yeast (toughest and best yeast). Pour some yeast into the grape juice (you don't need the whole packet). Shake it so the yeast is mixed. Cover carton with aluminum foil like >>36287500 . Wait 2 or 3 weeks. Pour it out slowly so as not to disturb the settled out yeast. You now have wine.

Grape juice is the ideal food for yeast. Other liquids might need nutrient supplements.
