Pharah is fucking delicious but I have to be completely honest OP, Tf2 is a legendary game that Overwatch can't, and will never replicate.

Team Fortress is just too good of a fucking game. Valve spent years creating one of the best multiplayer games to ever be created, with autistic amounts of development. It has the perfect balance of everything, including lore, comedy, action, atmosphere, game balance, teamwork, pretty much anything you can think of.

Overwatch is pretty, and has some cute girls, but it lacks mechanics, innovation, and soul. Unfortunately, I think those are the most important aspects of what differentiates a mediocre game from a truly good game. Overwatch is just simply mediocre.

Although, I disagree. I've tried playing TF2, but it just feels floaty, awkward and confusing, this might be a mix of inexperience and being spoiled by Overwatch. But, IDK, I just can't get into it. Overwatch, on the other hand, is a game I just boot up and be guaranteed a fun time.

Yes, tf2 is actually very hard to learn how to effectively play. You can play Overwatch for two games and be an effective Winston/Tracer/Pharah/whatever, while in tf2 you can "play" sniper after two games, but will be fucking worthless until you get some actual hours of experience under your belt.

Usually, video games are a great hobby to have for guys because it provides so much with not a lot of investment (Example, why learn an instrument that will take years to sound even decent when you could just play a game for a couple days and stomp kids), but with some games - like Tf2, Starcraft, or fighting games-, you have to keep pushing past the initial stage of aggravation and boredom to truly appreciate the game.

Absolutely wrong. The engineer specifically, has to know all of the maps and their spawn points to be an effective player. He's actually the class that requires the most game knowledge to do well with, with the next being the spy. A brand new player will take an abysmal amount of time putting up a sentry, may get one kill with it, and immediately die along with his buildings in two seconds to any decent demoman or spy.

Right, in a way and only momentarily. The reason why skill ceiling is discussed and so important to a lot of players today is that the higher a game's skill ceiling is, the MORE engaging the game becomes over time.

Games like those are not investments without reason, Starcraft is actually one of the most engaging games ever to be created, it just takes investment to get to that level. That, "in a way", can be engaging on it's own as well; the future a player sees in relation between the game and the knowledge and experience he learns from it.

Sadly with Overwatch, a lot of players saw that the game doesn't provide enough return with what a player can do with it, and hence why it's not nearly as popular as it was when it was released, and why non-casual/normalfags hate it now.

I used to play a lot of competitive tf2, which is a whole different game than pubs. the engineer is basically the in game leader of the team for most of the best teams. he has to know exactly how much time he has to set up a sentry when the other team wins a push. it's 100% the engineer's decision as to where the team forks their next hold. you have to know exactly how long your team can still the cart. if you hold too far, they gain ground for free. if you hold too close the engineer doesn't have time to build a sentry and the hold is blitzkrieged.

individual play in tf2 is 10x more nuanced than overwatch's will ever be.
