Can confirm, I worked in retail places. Had some people try to tip me, and told them I couldn't accept it. If they insisted we were suppose to take the money they gave us and put it in a charity jar. At least that was the procedure for the store I worked at, though I'm sure 9 out of 10 people pocketed that shit. Had a guy give me and a co-worker $5 one time, and told my co-worker if we should keep it, he just looked at me and was like

I got paid $2.13/hr. as a server and my check would sometimes be literally $0 after taxes. The USA is retarded and no one actually knows this is even possible, including myself before I was a server. I was a shitty tipper before, but now I always tip large because of waiter empathy. It's a good thing I hardly ever go out to eat.

If you are eating out in a shitty area full of niggers, you might be "actually" affecting them poorly by not tipping, but I made well over minimum wage in an downtown touristy area and it didn't matter if sometimes someone didn't tip.

Christ I am glad tipping isn't really a thing in the UK. You leave a few extra quid in a restaurant if the staff are really nice but that is it. I work in a hotel and the American staff tip for practically everything. It is nice, but the cultural difference is amazing.

One guy called me at 2am saying he had found dirty sheets in the cupboard because the cleaners are fucking idiots. I came up and got rid of them, and he handed me a fiver and acted as if I had saved his life or something.

Best one was a guy who had booked a suite, which are up 2 flights of stairs and there are no lifts. His wife had a bad hip and couldn't walk up, so I had to put them in one of the standard rooms where there is a lift. Refunded the difference and gave him a free meal. He came up to me after dinner and gave me 20 pounds. I love having Americans in.

It depends on the location of where you work and how expensive the food is. If you have a lot of white customers and the average meal is $20+ you'll probably be fine, but if your customers are mostly niggers (black people) and the food is cheap, you'll probably struggle to make minimum wage.
