Fuck this place. I moved here when I was 26 (now 32).

I've lived in 12 different cities. Moved a lot. New York is, by far, my least favorite place. Everything is expensive, people are rude, there's ghetto trash everywhere, homeless people everywhere, it always smells like piss and shit (especially in the summer), you get sick all the time due to the population density, it's humid as hell in the summer, too damn cold in the winter, owning a car is expensive, there's no parking anywhere, and public transit sucks.

Fuck this place. My wife and I are trying to move to rural California, in Fresno. Good chance it will happen. Getting the fuck out of here.

I listen to a podcast by some NYC comics and one of the guys lived for the longest time in a tenement building that had no windows and shared a space with a multi-generational Chinese family of like eight people as well as an acupuncture business.

There was black mold and bed bugs and often no heat in the winter and there was only one giant multi-purpose sink to share between himself and like 10 other Chinese people where they would either be making soup or their laundry in it at any given time.

NYC definitely sounds like somewhere you go visit, but not live, unless you're really swimming in cash.
>>
>>36199186
Fresno is the best. I like quiet, rural areas the most. I like hiking, camping, and rifles.

Yes, there's some meth. Whatever. I was an opiate addict myself for a while (sober for years). I don't claim the moral high ground.
>>
>>36199303
It's still California, the pseudo-socialist nanny state. I like rifles too, so I would never move to a state with crazy gun regulation.

Go to Carson City. Nice, friendly (mostly white) people, quiet, cheap and you can hike and shoot to your heart's content in the desert and if you prefer forests, California's lush Eldorado National Forest and Lake Tahoe are a short drive away.

What Hong Kong and New York have in common is that the cost of living in both cities doesn't reflect the standard of living at all.

Poor Failed Norman (spic, ay caramba!) here, I love New York. The joos are abundant, and there very ghetto areas (failed city development) but overall if you like keeping to yourself, nightwalks (in good areas ofc) and 24/7 diners NYC is a dream.

oh yeah, and have enough money for a car.

im socially underdeveloped because i grew up in a small irrelevant town in bumfuck nowhere, NC, full of both liberal faggots and flat-out normalfaggots. it wouldnt be an issue if every other person under the age of 25 wasn't several miles away minimum.

i hate this place and im getting out of here as soon as i finish this retarded associates degree

I feel you, man. Been living in suburban Atlanta most of my life and it's a nightmare to live here unless you're an attractive, extroverted turbo normie. Southerners are much more judgemental and unforgiving towards robots. It also sucks that I'm 18 and have no car in this decentralized, sidewalk free /n/ nightmare. Back when the train system was being planned in the 70s, this county voted against a line here so I'm immobile thanks to selfish boomers.
>>
I've lived in NYC all my life. I can say with 100% accuracy that it is a cold, desolate place.
The entire expanse is Stone. All nature in the manner of trees or greenary barely have alliance with the dominant Urban power.

Its VERY easily to get lonely and now the state has become more heavily policed than it has been in decades from past criminal excursions, barely any fun.

Back in 1989 it was a supreme place..But the entire city and atmosphere has shifted.. Forming relations is implausible for me. Everything is dreary and lonely here.

The only good thing is that the girls are VERY easy. Main reason why I stay.
>>
>>36198496
Why would you want to live there.
>>
>>36200270
You used to be able to get a hooker on times square, now Manhattan is all nice and gentrified by which I mean cops are fucking everywhere and historic neighborhoods are catering to the intolerable bohemian masses migrating from Williamsburg. Disney now owns Times Square so don't go there expecting to see anything but tourists waving their arms trying to find themselves on the big screen.

Like you said, the women are easy but I haven't met one woman in New York who isn't a vapid, braindead cunt.

>>
>>36201402
As with any job, it's best to follow whatever instructions you see in the listing or sign outside the business. Most places will want you to apply within, though. That's pretty typical all over New York.
>>
>>36201402
If America was a communist country you'd be given a job - fixing infrastructure in the Rust Belt.
>>
The "fixing" of NYC in the 80s just made the place a normie cesspit and killed whatever interesting culture the place had.
>>
>>36201542
New York used to have a "wild card" reputation as a result of the free spirit and individuality of it's inhabitants but now all New Yorkers strive to become a conforming yuppie in with an apartment in Central Park West.
>>
>>36201749
it's also a generational thing, millenials are not really free spirited individuals, anywhere

Small towns are SHIT in Ameirca

>Everyone knows every single mistake you have ever made so you have to be a turbo-normie constantly from day one, there is no possibility of redeeming yourself if you were weird in elementary/middle school
>There's nothing there and boomers probably voted against actual infrastructure to keep their views pretty, so buying a car is mandatory to survive (and every gas station nearby is price gouged to hell)
>Because it's so small, you're lucky to find one person with interests that aren't sports
>Depending on the location, it's either predominately rich old people who hate you or burned out middle aged people who couldn't afford a house close to home
>There's fuckall variety in terms of food, at best there's two pizza places and an ice cream place
>All the parks and public infrastructure is falling apart because nobody wants to pay for it, leaving the place a depressing shitheap of cookie cutter houses
>Public schools generally scrape the bottom of the barrel in terms of funding, so all your teachers are angry because they have to drive to buttfuck nowhere, the place is built as cheap as it comes and opportunities to study non-normie things like STEM or art clubs are practically nonexistant, which makes getting a nice college to move to an upward battle
>The town government is either selfish neocons who would rather watch the place rot than invest in it or dumb yuppies who would rather support poor people elsewhere than save themselves
>In terms of culture, the most you get is maybe a statue of the guy who founded the place and some cheesy yearly festival related to some local crop

Yet they're also very isolated.
You can stay detached from every human being if you so desire.

You never have to look at another person ever.

The natural world is absolutely beautiful because no one has ripped it apart.

Nature is the only thing worth looking at in the outside world. Cities are completely lacking in this. They're all very ugly and maddening.

I wouldn't ever be able to reside in a city.
They're hideous.
>>
I dorm here. It's a big city to be alone in, anon.
>There's so much to do

Small towns look ten times more hideous than any City. At least cities have parks and unique architecture styles, small towns have the occasional playground and homogenous tract houses.
>>
Maybe in the 40s it would have been cool. But it's been shit since the 60s, I'd imagine
>>
>>36202364
The Unabomber tried to escape society and live with nature, but urban sprawl simply spread to his door faster than he could get away from it.

There will be very few non-urban areas left on the planet by the time you die, and those areas will be protected and you won't be allowed near them.

counter-intuitively, it's the opposite. cities are far more isolating, for better or worse. there are more people in cities, but nobody has any expectation of knowing everyone, or anyone, else.

>>36202732
Your mind is fucked anon. NYC is complete and utter shit. There is trash everywhere. The subways are infested with rats. There are homeless people everywhere. Cost of living is high. Even the rich people in the penthouses get shit in terms of square footage for the price they pay. Every single food establishment essentially is the same. Even the high priced ones always serve the same thing (truffles, caviar, expensive wine, etc.). The one and only perk of the city is that you don't need a car. There is nothing else good about it.

And don't get me wrong, it is a very fun tourist destination, but living there is a totally different thing
