Rick and Morty is best described as "engaging". Like Life,occasionally Funny,Poignant,Grimly Amusing and Shockingly Terrible. The subtext makes me invested in each episode,and the revelations entertain and adds pathos to the mix.

It was funny. Wasn't smarter than it had to be to make the point and it wasn't afraid to just be funny instead of trying to shoehorn in some lesson, other than the general theme of the show. KOtH had failings that this show did not, despite being the "smarter" of the shows.
