ignore the new agey buddhist self help crap, just do it, 5-10 minutes a day. obviously it's not a magic pill and it will not fix your life, but it will take the edge off. it's helped me a lot, had crippling anxiety, stuttering, cold sweat, shakes in social situations. still do but it's become somewhat more managable. basically it helps you take some distance from things, cool your head, realize thought patterns you have that you never notice (there's so fucking many it's ridiculous)

if you do it, commit, regardless of how it "feels" at first .. for me after the first two sessions i felt great and like my mind was, i guess, defragmenting, then that stopped and i almost quit but a couple months in now i certainly see the effect it's had. it is good.
