My partner and I do things kind of differently to others I've noticed. there's not much back and forth, I'll usually just write a story for him with dialogue included in the third person. Having an overarching story with characters and such might be fun though, but usually I just do all of the writing until he's satisfied.

I recently got into it, and have done about 3 sessions so far. It really challenges my writing because I've been taking it seriously, trying hard to avoid repetition or reusing words. However, it's just such a large time sink. Last night I was going with my partner and I climaxed fairly early on. In ye olden days the ERP site of choice was yahoo user rooms. The filthiest stuff I ever saw in net 1.0 was all there. It was literally because of all that, that the user rooms got banned forever from yahoo around 05 or so.

They just said nope, fuck it, we're not having this here ever again.

Things were very calm for a while after that, roleplaychat showed up and that was one of the big ERP spots imo.

Rabbithole and F-list and some other site competed to be the fetish ERP hookup zones. F-list won. Now 95% of ERP is there or on steam, or what remains of roleplaychat.

As for finding random anons, I actually found my best ERP partners ever by getting lewd in threads on 4chan back in the day, so I agree. I suppose its just the environment.

Almost every did one liners in the mid 90's. I began ERP when I was like 12 back then, it was nutbar.

Paragraph style posting became popular on yahoo and aol around 1999 but the aol rooms didn't support it well so yahoo "won out". People were mostly into either romantic fantastical RP (usually involving vampires or DnD chars), or visiting "Slave Trade" ERP rooms where you'd roleplay bidding on the slaves. Anyone who was ever in the yahoo days knows what I fucking mean, Slave Trade 1 and 2 were always top of userroom list and each maxed at 50/50.

There was a strange trend of sexual wrestler characters for a while around 2000 which I couldn't really explain.

The women were more subby and the men were all more dom. This came to a harsh change around 2008. That was the year it seemed like ERP got turned upside down. Doms became as rare as white dog shit. Subs became 80-90% of the flavoring. I was actually a switch till about 08 and was forced to adapt into becoming a Dom to get action.

People were into tentacles before 08, but not so much monsters. I'm not positive what influenced it but also after 08, monsters became highly popular. A lot of straight guys resorted to becoming orcs, minotaurs, tentacles, etc in order to get action since there was also a fad of "fuck everything but futa". It still persists in some ways to this very day.
