you don't have to do either of those things specifically if you don't want to. There's no point in using a VPN if you're using Tor for most people (unless you're in North Korea or some shit) and some markets will automatically do PGP for you.

You do have to learn how to use bitcoin but that's easy as fuck. Look up a reddit guide for darknet ordering, it's easy.
