Japan and China have been playing chicken over those rocks for decades. Obama asserted a few years ago that yes we would join Japan against China over those rocks. That actually makes it less likely a war will happen.

Russia and US don't want a war, and Trump is friendly enough with the Russians that they'll figure out how to handle this Syria shit without losing face.

It's basically just more Bush shit. Yes, we're going to war. No, it's not WWIII.

We are already at war, we are just taught to look away. Say hi to stockholm ,st. peterburg london and whoever else got enriched in just the last weeks.
But real full on military actions between the powerblocks? Stop worrying, not gonna happen.

Nothing is impossible, its just not really in anyones interest. Proxywars are far better at keeping approval ratings from nosediving afterall.
Also any real conventional war needs a shitload of build-up time, not like a quick airsortie or lobbing tomahawks into durkastan.
And everyone but maybe NK will rather do tons of swashbuckling and diplomatic dance before even thinking of using unconventional heavy tools.
