In some ways the stigma get less as you get older. Being a virgin at my age is beyond most people's comprehension. They just don't assume you can possibly be a virgin, which makes it much easier to hide. A lack of a gf is not considered to be an automatic virgin flag.

Also if anyone does find out the mockery is gone. At least to your face. People have expressed genuine sympathy and concern for my wellbeing.
