it is too idealistic and can't work as intended, but it's not the evil menace where 10 gorillion die of starvation and there is state-enforced misery that it's always portrayed as. communism that isn't based solely on the russian or chinese model could work somewhat well, although it would need to compromise on certain things.

Maybe I didn't express myself correctly. I'm referring to the ideal society proposed by the arhcitect in Zeitgeist. We would remove our current economic system that relies on exchanging legal tender for goods and services to a resource based economy. We would scout the planet, do some math and count what type of resource we have and how much. Private corporations and their malicious practices would cease to exist, we would strive to make products of the highest quality and made to last as long as possible. The government would be run by engineers that would come up with the most efficient ways to use technology to make our lives easier

As an engineer I can tell you that there are some things that look good on paper, but in practical use will always fail.
There are too many human factors that are not figured into communism, are those human factors will always lead to its downfall. There is corruption, uneven power dispersal, lack of drive for improvement of both goods and placement in society, and laziness of people who realize they get same benifit regardless if they bust ass or slack. There are even more, depending on the flavor of communism. It's a stagant system. A well regulated capitalism that protects against corruption in all forms and protects the rights and safety of costumers and workers is the way to go.
