I really liked a lot and it holds a special place in my heart but if you couldn't get into after a few episodes maybe it just isn't for you. I'd recommend giving another shot though or maybe try to read the LN. But yeah, it can be a miss or hit.

This is true, I remember when I was 11 and watched this and it was so much better then brotherhood.

The atmosphere was a lot more dark then brotherhood, since it started with them as preteens and having to experience all of these dark and brutal events, I really liked the idea of burry the chopper when he was still human as a psycho pass cross dresser trying to kill Edward. FMA 2003, had such better music, and a much darker atmosphere compared to brotherhood what was a lot more light hearted. The only thing that sucked about FMA 2003 was they only got half way into the story then were forced to end it with a shitty filler in stuff because the manga only was half way done, I think they should remake FMA 2003 with the same idea and atmosphere and etc, Just tell the whole story with some touch ups here and there, and still have some fuller in stuff that were good like burry the chopper as a serial killer, the movie ended it with a much more sadder ending, even though most of the movie was shit, I will give them credit for having Edward going into are world during 1940's nazi Germany, even having the Nazis and Hitler in a anime is such a cool idea that doesn't happen enough sadly.

This is sadly to true, brotherhood could never compare to FMA 2003's sad and depressing but amazing atmosphere and plot. Brotherhood is almost as bad as Naruto, with adding nigger characters and a shitty dojo light hearted bs happing ending where everyone lives and gets married and has kids. I think I should rewatch it for nostalgia, I personally want to see this great and dark telling of FMA remade, at least as a mini series or something, that gets all of the good, juicy heart wrecking parts of FMA 2003 into a short 4 hour mini series. A mini series would be really cool, FMA, expressly 2003 is totally mini series material, unfortunately I doubt funimation or the author would allow that, even though the author has wanted to make a live action series, but I think the mini series should be a anime as it would lose its special charm if it was live action.

It's not the dying or whatever that makes you sad, but the fact that life progesses. We get to see these happy kids in high school, with all their quirks, living innocent and blissful lives. It's fun, we feel, we're happy for them, things are good.

Then it's one of the few animes that show what happens "after", in this case, high school. You get a job you barely like, your friends go away, you don't really talk to any of your old friends, and the few joys you have are fleeting and your care free nature is gone.

Honestly makes me sad realizing how much opportunity I wasted in high school.
