Hello dear internet friends

Have you ever played a tabletop RPG ? do you know about DnD ?
>i know it, but i have no one to play with
>i heard about it, sounds cool but idk..
>never heard of it.

Well whatever your answer may be, i've been thinking about running a game with fellow robots normies and roasties will be REEEE'd at

IF i got to run this game, i would need a few of you robots courageous enough to try something new and have fun for at last a few hours...

The first game would be a totally newb / noob friendly tutorial game.. you dont need to know anything, you will learn on the fly.

If playing is not your slice of bread, feel free to spectate

If this gets enough attention, we should do it

I you are a DM, you could help me so we can run multyple games
>>
>>36047299
I would be interested in this. I have no practical knowledge of how to play D&D
>>
>>36047325
do you know about the game at last ? if not, im more than willing to introduce all of yous.. ask away
>>
How do you even play d&d with people you can't meet irl?
>>
>>36047339
Yeah, I've watched some games on YouTube. Looks like fun. I'm not sure how to go about building a character
>>
>>36047353
there are sites dedicated to it, like roll20.com which is pretty nice. also discord, skype or any other voice chat thing

>>36047325
>practical
in practice, Roleplaying games follow a VERY SIMPLE gameplay format.

>DM (dungeon master) sets the scene
>"you see big bad orc"
>you the player, decide what to do (you are not limited in any way)
>"i want to persuade the orc that im his grandfather"
>the dices decide of the outcome
>"you rolled a X, you succeed... the orc believes you"

REPEAT
>>
I want in. I'll be a super charismatic knight that has very low intelligence.
>>
>>36047413
Are traps welcome tho? I don't wanna get REEE'd out, I'll be nice I swear
>>
>>36047374
in the first game there wont be any character creation... remember it is a SUPER NEWB FRIENDLY game

there will be no character sheets (at first) just a few people, a DM (me or some other anon whos up to it) and a very quick and short game to explain the game

the game will be VERY VERY railroaded. like almost scripted... but only this first one tho, to familiarise you with the game..

If anybody feels like they want in on learning DnD prior, there is a pretty good guy doing tutorials

here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT3FRzEJDp8&t=4s

i want the first game to be something like this
>>
I'd be up for it. I've played a bit and even DM'd somewhat.
>>
>>36047299
I'll play.

are you doing it on discord or something?
>>
>>36047448
if you will focus more on the game than you sexuality, sure

>>36047470
nice, maybe you could DM the first "tutorial" ? this thread is still in baby phase, its just an idea, we need to flesh out the things
>>
These things are a bitch to get started. Is there any way to just make an ongoing campaign where people can hop in/out?
>>
>>36047478
its not decided yet, i made this thread so we could decide

but i thought about discord / skype and roll20.net
>>
>>36047466
That sounds great. I would be interested
>>
>>36047508
a hop in game would be the first "tutorial" game... anything else would require either a weekly routine (a full campaign) or threads about upcoming games (single sessions)
>>
>>36047510
discord can work well since people don't need the app, they can use the browser discord.

i've played a few sessions, pretty fun but it can be difficult to play IRL since everyone has to be available.
>>
>>36047490
Sure sure, if anything comes of this I'd be down for it.
>>
also, sorry dudes but running a totally newb game with frequent questions from players is hard and time consuming, so i would only take on 4-5 players... i know it sucks but... maybe we can make multyple sessions ?
>>
I'd love to play but I'm busy all this next week or so. Any idea for dates?
>>
I haven't played for a long while - 4e - but I have a few characters I like to use. A warlord, a warlock, an animal specialist ranger and a cleric
>>
>>36047299
I bought the books and everything, and its pretty fun to make characters but i was so terrible at telling a story and my friends didn't know the game at all so it failed
>>
Any heal sluts?
>>
>RPG with people from r9k
I give it two sessions.
>>
>>36048122
Exactly how it went for me too
>>
I've always wanted to play but never had friends to play with. I tried one of those sites with a browser interface board and such, but it seemed like all games were either for advanced players only, or they were beginner games that filled the players quota instantly.

Holy balls anon, I loved D&D back in my hay day. We should definitely do this.
>>
>>36048230
My cleric is a bit of an elf twink but he's not a shota, plus he worships the Raven Queen iirc so necessarily a bit edgy

I think it would be fun, but how would people set it up?
>>
>>36049178
Got to be honest, I don't think he's getting through that guard with a hand axe, even two-handing

>Try circling round
>>
>>36047299
Hey OP, what system would you play? I have the feeling 5e is one of the more newbie friendly systems, at least in my experience. 4e is full of special rules from what I've seen.
>>
Looks like OP has left without even organising a game...

...and I was so very much looking forward to this
>>
>>36047299
I'm a DM, i'd totally help you/play if youre cool
what kind of d&d are you thinking? i like pathfinder & 5E personally
>>
>>36047299
I'm down. How are we going to do this? Discord?
>>
>>36047299
How big would you intend one party to be? I play myself and learnt that more than five people is pretty bad.
>>
I played a lot of 3.5 I could try to help. someone post a dischord so we can actually organize something. i dont want to play if i have to speak though, that shits spooky
>>
w-where and ho-how deSU?!
>>
>>36047299
You need to have friends to do that kind of shit.
You should leave you don't belong here.
I play the video game versions because they're single player
>>
Good luck robots, I kind of want to spectate to see how well it goes but it'll probably spook people.
Been playing it for about a year now, the sessions are probably the highlight of my week and maybe one of the few reasons I haven't necked myself yet.
>>
Boys, boys. D&D is too complicated to begin with.

How about some nice, short form RPG like Everyone Is John? Takes about 1/2 hour and it's fun as fuck. I can run it after Easter. Make it happen, boyos.

Where do I sign up? Also could help with DMing, balance and game logistics in general. Have a scarce expirience of 1 long ass DnD type game.

Always wanted to try a DnD or pathfinder game, but I dont know anyone in real life to play with (obviously) and I'm kinda scared to death of voicechat, also all I know about RPing is furries going "*notices bulge* OwO whats this?".
>>
>>36047299
Thats sounds fucking awesome. Like you, I've always liked DnD but had no one to play it with. I admittedly don't know much about it, but I'm a quick learner with an encyclopedia like knowledge of things once I get a basis to learn from. Where do I sign up?
>>
>thread begins about introducing "non rpg veterans" to tabletop rpgs
>30+ posts in it's already all about normalfags that had their real life friends handhold them thru learning to play circlejerk and exclude true robot beginners who know nothing

every time
>>
>>36051850
>*notices bulge* OwO whats this?
What's the correct response to this question?
>>
>>36047299
As someone who plays P&P a lot and for a long time, I've learned a few things on how to keep a group going over the years, especially on who to not accept into the group as they will cause issues:
>roasties
>druggies including potheads
>people who seem to be more interested in the (out-of-game) socialization than the game
>trannies, fags, crossdressers, ERPers, etc.
>leftists (unless you are sure they are not of the social justice kind)

Keep your group clean of these people and you're already halfway to a good group. Can't account for everyone and you always gotta look at the specific cases, but in general the above will be nothing but trouble.

Oh and >>36047448 is a good example of a warning sign. You don't meet in real life, him wearing his sister's clothes has no influence on the game and had no reason to be brought up apart from attention whoring.
>>
OP? You gonna come back to us at some point with a sign up sheet or something?

true robots can only find compassion in (you)s of other robots
because a true robot can only observe and never participate, thus the only thing a robot can do with confidence and joy is observe, criticize and compliment fellow robots posts

One of the few competitive RPGs, everyone plays as a voice inside of John's head. Each voice has a secret obsession (ranging from pigging out on candy to kicking puppies to blowing up buildings) and they all are trying to control John to fulfill their obsessions so they can gain points. It's pretty short and really fun.
>>
>>36052163
If it's dark heresy the answer is "*BLAM* Heresy"
>>
>>36052067
I don't get why it has to exclude muh true robots, OP stated that it would be noob friendly and if anything a GM with experience is invaluable.
>>
>>36052327
That does sound interesting. That said, I enjoy the RP aspect of tabletopping the most, so while it might be fun for an hour or so I would rather get into it with dorfs and shit.
>>
>>36047299

Given how much frogposting I see on /tg/, I'm really surprised that more robots aren't more familiar with tabletop RPG's (even if it's just a matter of buying books / downloading PDF's and dreaming of playing but not being able to).
>>
>>36052067

From what precisely are you construing this?

I've played a few games with people online but they always fell apart and I've never gotten to do a full campaign.
I'm fairly familiar with the rules but still a beginner.
