The NEET life style is only really encouraged on places of Japanese influence at the moment. This is most common on 4chan, and other anime / Japanese based forums over the internet at the moment.
However if we look deeper at society and millennials we can see that more and more of them are becoming NEETs. I believe that this is due to the spread of Japanese influence such as anime. People in the west are being encouraged to become NEET over time.

My employer does far more harm by not paying me enough. If the wages were better I wouldn't want to ever be a neet. I know from the speech I was given by the guy who runs the store that it turns a profit, yes just the individual store I work in, of 150 million dollars a year. I'm not fucking stupid. My pay is $9.50 an hour and can reach as high as $13.50 depending on how long I work there, if I don't call in too many sick days, etc. I know they could afford to make that slightly higher though with very little impact on the bottom line. They are better than most corporations but still they are blood sucking parasites on this society. I overhear higher paid workers who are on older contracts talking in the break room all the time "are you going to take that buyout?" "Fuck no!"

So I have more money now. But I can't enjoy my life because I am always working. If I was making say $16 per hour at the top end after whatever period of time I wouldn't even bitch about that. But what I get doesn't feel like it's worth what I put in and when I see the numbers on the screen of the cash register its hard not to feel like I'm being taken advantage of.

I was NEET for nearly 10 years, living off of NEETbux, living alone and so on. Its nice and comfy here, but I do now work. 6-10 hours a month. Its a nice job with VERY few hours overall, but I kind of like it like this. Working at random times when I'm needed. It fits my generally chaotic sleeping times and irregular lifestyle. It gives me a bit of extra money to go with my neetbux that I still get because I don't have enough hours. The only other alternative is to find a job where I work all the damn time, ruin my mental health completely and have only a littlebit more money.

The problem is, its almost always one of the two extremes. You are a NEET or you work like mad and hate yourself even more. I was lucky enough to get this weird job and I'll stick with it.

When Costco opens up here I can probably transfer over there and get paid a higher wage. My experience here will help with that. Then when it's all said and done I can go work the easiest lowest paid job I can find. Because I don't care as long as I can pay my bills and have something left over. I survived as a NEET with $740 a month in social security payments living in my own place.
